  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

According to the Michigan Campaign For Liberty:

"Urgent: getting this information to activists depends on folks sharing this. Please help.

Currently (1:37 a.m.) all of the websites for Republican State Senators are down.  This is very curious considering the democrat sites are all working and the fact that not having email or a contact form will disenfranchise a lot of people, greatly reducing the number of grassroots activists who contact their legislators.

Today, massive numbers of limited government activists will be trying to contact their senators to tell them to vote no on ObamaCare.

To help activists, we provided all contact info on our website."

And I've provided it below, along with some additional intel.

As House Bill 4714 (2013) was rapidly transitioning from "read a second time" to "substitute H-3 adopted and amended" to "placed on third reading" to "read a third time" to "placed on immediate passage" to "passed; given immediate effect" . . . yes, transitioning just that quickly (the proof starts on page 24 of House Journal # 59) . . . I was in conversation with, among others, Dara Bailey (Vice President & National Vetting Director of iCaucus National).  She offered to commit national resources to help the liberty-minded network in Michigan do what needs to be done to visit political punishment on every single legislative turncoat next summer.  All that we need to do as a statewide movement is to use Joanie's screencap of 2013 House Roll Call # 241 as a motivator to set aside our nationally infamous internecine squabbling, and work as a cohesive machine toward a larger goal.

It's by now quite obvious that there are wayyy too many people occupying either publicly-elected office or party-elected internal office that still don't understand a key concept of the liberty movement, grassroots conservatives, and tea party network (committed to principled cause first, and loyal to a political party only to the extent that the party serves the purpose of the cause).  The arm-twisting associated with the passage in the House of 2013 House Bill 4111 (which still sits "on the table" in the Senate, according to Thursday's calendar), and the heavy-handed bifarceisanship and lobbyist nonsense that we're seeing leveraged in an attempt to accomplish the passage of 2013 House Bill 4714, (which, as of Thursday's House calendar, has been reported to the House floor for a second reading) seems to indicate that some politician paper training is still in order.

    The Mechanics of Takeover

As I published in June of last year, what the combined grassroots effort accomplished at the May Convention was impressive, but only the first battle of a much longer campaign that will be necessary in order to purge the Republican Party in Michigan (at every level) of the blueblood elites that have taken over the party establishment.  At the time, I mentioned that the reach of the broom needed to extend all the way down to the county executive committees where necessary, and I provided at strategic overview of what would need to be done to effect the end goal.  At this point, regardless of how it worked out, phases 1 through 4 are complete.  Since we only have four weeks to work with, we need to stay tightly focused on phase 5 of the plan, and we must use our time wisely.

So with that in mind, grab a pot of coffee and a snack plate, and let's go below the fold.

Tossing Integrity and Credibility out the Window . . . Again

From as far back as I can remember, up until the summer before my freshman year of high school, my paternal grandparents lived two houses down from the house where I grew up (and where my parents still live).  Having raised six children of their own, they were well-equipped to assist my mom and dad when such assistance was needed, including teaching object lessons to their grandchildren as necessary.

One such lesson that I remember well occurred when I walked into my mom's kitchen complaining that my brothers' and sister's bedrooms were absolute pig stys.  Because my mom was busy (canning vegetables if I remember correctly), my gran-ma - who was assisting - offered to take a look.  Sure enough, standing there in the upstairs hall, she was looking right through a pair of already-open doors into bedrooms for which the description of "disorganized" would have been charitable.  However, it also occurred to her to open the door to my bedroom and see what might be seen.  While my bedroom was noticeably tidier, it was nowhere close to her exacting standards.

This observation was followed by my grandmother fixing me with a no-nonsense look and saying rather sternly, "I should think, young man, that before you go complaining about someone else's room, you ought to first make sure yours is clean."  Point made; lesson learned; end of conversation.

And now, to apply that lesson, we should grab some coffee and duck below the fold.

Schostak Seeks Brewer's Help in Screwing McCotter's Constituency

You'd think that, after the shellacking that Saul Anuzis received a couple of months ago, the Michigan Republican Party would've got the hint that the grassroots in this here state isn't putting up with their crap anymore.  Given that there's already a project underway to break the cycle of abusive behavior of state party leadership by replacing the corrupted party leadership (all the way down to the county party level, where necessary), you'd think that the elites would consider themselves on notice that getting their RINO asses in line is going to be the only way that they save their skins during the internal party elections that will be following the November general election.

Apparently, someone at MIGOP didn't get the memo.

    How To Replace Party Leadership

I have more than once on this site cited a paraphrase of John F. Kennedy's warning:  Those who insist on making a peaceful takeover impossible will ultimately make a takeover by revolt inevitable, and perhaps even necessary.  Since we cannot seem to trust the blueblood elites in the establishment to get the message, let's go below the fold and discuss an idea to "grease the skids" for their removal from power.
