  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

How Boehner single-handedly lost the GOP Majority in the House for 2014

{facepalm} Every House Republican't that voted for a second term of Weeper Boehner should be tarred, feathered, and ran out of town on a rail.  That should be the "teachable moment" for Representative Steve King.  It's the pandering Politically Correct garbage in the GOP "Big Tent" that will stab one in the back just as fast, if not faster, than the Democratic Socialist Party plantation race warlord poverty pimps.

Besides Rick Snyder, same 'ol same old... Amnesty for gatecrashers.

The immigration overhaul passed by the U.S. Senate could put a big squeeze on the budgets of state and local governments.

The proposal does not help states pay for costs incurred by required policy changes, including ramped up English classes and greater access to public hospitals and health clinics.

"Potentially, we are going to create a financial catastrophe for states and localities," said Sheri Steisel, senior federal affairs counsel and a human services expert at the National Conference of State Legislatures. "The states will end up with the cost and consequences of the federal decision-making, with very little resources to rely on to make up the difference."

    MORE

Not that the self-invented Nerd persona since being sworn to his Oath has done a damn thing about that "big squeeze" anyway.  Why Hell, stealth Democrat Rick Michigan has even fought his own Secretary of State, Ruth Johnson, over providing gatecrashers a driver license, squashing voter verification, and placing the Lawless to the front of the line ahead of American citizens.

Michiganders must really enjoy being little more than Debt Slaves.  Wolverines - do not.  Frankly, I don't see a snowball's chance in Hell that Snyder will be a second term anything in this state, but go ahead "liberty-minded network" with squandering your time and resources on Calley.

    Time To School The Left

"Ker-SNAP!" The sound you might hear as Rule-of-law folks everywhere reach their breaking point.

A point in which all manner of civility is thrown out the window, and people defending what is left of a once-great nation feel the need to lash out.  A breaking point that is regularly exacerbated through such 'government giveaways' as this:

"The free government cell phone program is growing rapidly. The program has grown from 2008 expenditures of $823 million to over $2.2 billion in 2012, helping out between 15-20 million people.

Much to our surprise, there are no regulations that prohibit undocumented immigrants from getting these phones. In fact, based on our research we assume many undocumented immigrants are already using the free government cell phone program to help in landing jobs, to keep in touch with doctors and other medical professionals, to stay in touch with their family, and to reach 911 in emergency situations."

Gosh how generous, and with a bonus
"before long you can start talking on your free cell phone, compliments of the United States government."
That would be "compliments of the people who pay taxes" anyhow.

    But wait, there's MORE!

The 14th Congressional District Republican Committee last evening passed a resolution opposing the expansion of Medicaid and the implementation of health care exchanges.

    The committee resolution states

IT IS THE SENSE of the 14th CDRC Officers and Members that expanding Medicaid at the behest of the federal government runs contrary to the principles of the Republican Party, which opposes government-run health care, economic interventionism, and federal control of private industry.

THEREFORE, we recommend, to those representing our district in the Michigan House and Senate, a NO vote on HB 4714 or any other legislation pertaining to an expansion of state Medicaid eligibility and funding, or the implementation and funding of any health care exchange associated with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act within the State of Michigan.

Adopted at a regular meeting on July 16, 2013

    Indeed.

And this is not the ONLY Republican committee to do so.

Election Results Subject To Constitutional Challenge

Better check those election results.  - Reposted from GROW.TC

It seems the state has been overlooking a fundamental restriction already in place when certifying election results for 5+ year millages and Bond requests.  Has there been a validation for electors established to determine if the right to vote on certain issues?

Typically, those who show up for an election for a millage are unchallenged as to their ability to vote on such issues.  There are no instructions that stipulate the law, as established by the constitution REQUIRES a real stake in such issues printed on the election forms (ballots), and there are no alternate means to prevent abrogation of constitutional statute.  The Michigan Constitution is very clear:

    ARTICLE II
    Elections

§ 6 Voters on tax limit increases or bond issues.

Sec. 6. Whenever any question is required to be submitted by a political subdivision to the electors for the increase of the ad valorem tax rate limitation imposed by Section 6 of Article IXfor a period of more than five years, or for the issue of bonds,  only electors in, and who have property assessed for any ad valorem taxes in, any part of the district or territory to be affected by the result of such election or electors who are the lawful husbands or wives of such persons shall be entitled to vote thereon. All electors in the district or territory affected may vote on all other questions.

History: Const. 1963, Art. II, §6, Eff. Jan. 1, 1964.
Former Constitution: See Const. 1908, Art. III, §4.

    Uh oh.

A question we should be asking might be: "Is a passed millage request subject to legal challenge based on the inability to verify the legal status of the electors voting on such issues?" In other words, if you don't own property you cannot vote on a bond issue, so is your ballot restricted, or not?

    Stay tuned.

US Senate Candidate BAD For Michigan Jobs

Once in a while we need to be reminded that the lefties HATE plant food.

Badly enough to risk Michigan manufacturing jobs as I have pointed out before:

"Its a sure bet Michigan jobs will go away in certain parts of the upper peninsula, and given the backhanded way in which the current white house occupiers pee where they eat, it is likely not an isolated concern.¹ A billion here, a billion there.  Hardly any pressure on the working stiffs when those costs are passed along.

    Right?"

    Right.

Congress had already done its snow job pre-2010 election however. And today, President Obama will unveil his plan to bypass Congress to force a radical climate change plan which will have devastating ramifications for Michiganders.

Democrat Gary Peters (as with many others) worked to help elect Barack Obama, and as a Congressman, bears his own responsibility for setting the liberal enviro-whacko policy agenda that will destroy jobs, raise energy costs, and hurt working families in states like Michigan. Peters has been a loyal supporter of President Obama's liberal agenda, voting with him nearly 90% of the time, including on extreme climate change measures that would hurt Michigan's economy. Peters "proudly" supports the egregiously costly Cap and Trade legislation that work destroy jobs and raise taxes on middle class families and workers.

    Finished below the fold.
