  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    SCOTUS, Here We Come

On this site, I think that it goes without saying that we have a major constitiutional issue with the healthcare deform legislation that was signed into law a couple of Marches ago.  So much so, in fact, that we supported a 2010 petition drive to amend Michigan's Constitution to reject the application of the individual mandate in this state by any level of government (and don't be surprised to see that petition again in 2012).  So much so, in fact, that we support current pending legislation (thank you, Rep. McMillin) to at least statutorily reject the individual mandate, if not just have the legislature vote the matter onto the state ballot.

Adn I think that we'd be quite willing to cheer about some good news regarding this issue coming out of Georgia today.

"It ain't over til it's over."  Those are the immortal words, and mangled phraseology, of baseball great Yogi Berra; and they could also be the rallying cry of the Michigan Citizens for Healthcare Freedom.  Together, we have sacrificed much in time, gas, money, and sunburn (among other things) to collect thousands and thousands of signatures in favor of preserving citizens choice in healthcare.  These signatures come from not just the Republicans, but from Democrats and Independents as well, supporting the right of "We the People" to decide whether or not to accept President Obama's disastrous healthcare plan, or reject it, and send a message to Washington that our voice WILL be heard.
