  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Grand Blanc Township Is ELECTRIC!

Ahh the upside of accepting those federal monies. - H/T Joan Fabiano

Electric car owners now get to be free loaders as an additional benefit of purchasing the Leaf, Volt or other eco-recommended units of transportation.  As Part of the problem with EV solutions has been the short distances they can travel, the feds have made sure seed money is there for charging stations. 8-10 hours of charging can now happen at the I-75/Dixie Highway carpool lot.

And by golly it appears as though there will be no charge for the juice.

"Grand Blanc Township, which already pays for the electricity lighting the carpool lot, will cover the electric cost for the charging station as well. Coulomb Technologies, Inc. provided the electric charger station and the Grand Blanc Community Fund paid for its installation. The project was started with money provided through a federal grant. "

So while we as taxpayers in general have shoveled out the taxes to pay for the incentives for the automakers ability to sell the over-sized and costly little rascals, then paid for the grant to fund the set up of this little pitstop, Grand Blanc Township taxpayers get to subsidize the electricity to run other folks' stuff.

    Delicious.

Huh, it sounds like a great campsite for RVs too.  Pack it up Good Sams, there's a new KOA in town.

No stems, no seeds, no sticks... some of that real sticky-icky-icky

Cosmic karma and a comeuppance twenty-six years in the making?  I don't know.  Take the news that Jay Cutler is likely forcing a trade with the fact that my blackberry just died and that today we all have to put up with incessant shouts of APRIL FOOLS DAY and a guy could be forgiven for thinking the universe was out to play its own little practical joke.

Mix it all together and I don't know WHAT you've got, but I know that I'VE got a pounding headache.

Darn it all if it didn't arrive a few days early, too.  If today were Saturday maybe I could have used my frustration as a crutch, toddled on down to one state office or another and picked up an ID to grow my own marijuana.

OK, so I'm not going to toke, myself, but its awfully reassuring to know the neighbors down the block can.  We think.  (If its legal, that should cut down on the police patrols on my street.)  See, the ballot proposal approved last fall by Michigan voters wasn't particularly clear about, well, anything.  The Detroit News reports that health and law enforcement officials are sort of... hazy... (RIMSHOT) on the law's implications.  Here is what we know:
