    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Sometimes you gotta wonder WTF

you know ... Why They FAIL?

In yet another attempt to bend the business owner to government's will, Democrats in the state house have introduced what I will call the Credit Reporting Absolutely Prohibited act.

Michigan's House Bill 4363 (2011) has the following lawmakers bending employers over and gives them the busines..  umm gives them a LESSON on business. Jon Switalski - (primary) Lesia Liss, Vicki Barnett, Rashida H. Tlaib, Kate Segal, Stacy Erwin Oakes, Andrew J. Kandrevas, Woodrow Stanley, Brandon Dillon, Fred Durhal, Jr., Jim Ananich, Maureen Stapleton, Ellen Cogen Lipton, Mark Meadows, Lisa Brown all have jumped on board the 'C.R.A.P.' act bandwagon, and eagerly seek the  no responsibility route.

"A bill to prohibit employers from making certain recruiting or hiring decisions based upon an individual's credit history; to prohibit employers from making certain inquiries; to prohibit certain waivers; to prohibit retaliation; and to provide remedies."

Certainly, those folks could get their credit back up if they could get that job they don't deserve, right?  Oh my, those poor put upon people who just cannot catch a break!  Wow! If I may borrow a cartoon character's exclamation of disgust mixed with a little frustration and eye rolling, AYE CARAMBA!  It seems our out of touch cousins of the liberal persuasion have again forgotten that their form of governance has consequence.

    More below.

Its amazing how some writers, pundits, or analysts completely miss the point when offering up their wordy utterances for public consumption.

The recognition that Obama 'ain't the guy' somehow has begun to worm its way into the rotting brain matter of liberal journalists, and given the Soros cold shoulder recently, its not a surprise.  Substantive understanding however, of the problems we face is not necessarily shown when such authors as Jonathan Capehart at the WAPO have THIS to say:

"Focusing on Obama's personnel, we agreed that the president needed to widen his circle of confidants beyond his Chicago security blanket. "He needs a governor," my friend said. My perfect candidates: Ed Rendell (D-Pa.) and Jennifer Granholm (D-Mich.). "

Hello?  McFly?  Let us in the great lakes state of Michigan point something out to you.  Granholm was Obama, BEFORE Obama was Obama..

But never let THAT stop a plan from unfolding..

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Michigan Democrats Like The Takeover

While writing, I have tried to keep it Left-Right, not Democrat-Republican.  As we know there are good and bad folks in both parties, but it seems the loyalty to the dark side of where the country is going appeals to more who call themselves Democrats. Even given an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity in the face of a FAIL national health policy, Democrats in Lansing cannot bring themselves to do the right thing.

Michigan Democrats had a chance to redeem themselves yesterday, but succumbed to the pressure brought about by the labor element which "Already has its" coverage wrapped.  Personal rights appear to mean little to the senate Democrats who voted no on appending the affirmation of our right of choice with regard to medical care into our state constitution.

The left, many of whom will use abortion as a "get your hands off my body" argument, seem to think its OK to have government decide for us which doctors to use, how often, and how much care we can receive.  So State Sen. Wayne Kuipers' joint resolution to allow Michigan residents to assert their personal freedom in providing their own health care was defeated Tuesday by Democrats in the Michigan Senate.

Outbound moves record shattering and worse than feared

According to the Detroit News, we're setting records here in Michigan.  And not just setting records, but doing things that are so unique and so rare, there is literally no comparative example anywhere in American history.

In any other state, that sort of paragraph could either be really great news or a portent of something down right rotten.  In a state governed by the Granholm - Cherry administration for the better part of a decade we tend to lose that first option pretty quickly.  Sure enough...

Michigan's population is dwindling, and fast.  We knew that.  We learn each year that we lead the nation in outbound moves.  United Van Lines doesn't mean to punch us in the gut, they're just reporting their own numbers, but it happens again and again.

Since 2001, migration has cost Michigan 465,000 people, the equivalent of the combined populations of Grand Rapids, Warren and Sterling Heights -- the state's second-, third- and fourth-largest cities.

Population loss of that magnitude is so rare that its impact has never been studied. But The News' analysis discovered some sobering trends:

Those leaving Michigan are the people the state most needs to keep -- young and college-educated. The state suffered a net loss to migration of 18,000 adults with a bachelor's degree or higher in 2007 alone -- the equivalent of half the staff of the University of Michigan crossing the state line.

In other words, those jobs of tomorrow and that whole diversification of the economy that the administration has been trying to engineer via tax increases, increased regulation and more overseas family vacations than you can shake a stick at just plain hasn't materialized.  To the contrary... the folks who aren't working are multiplying and staying put while folks who already HAVE jobs are beating feet and making a mad dash for the Indiana border (I refuse to entertain the notion any of them exit via Ohio).

    Read on...
