  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Imagine all that failure owned by the Democratic Party.  Amazing.  Equally amazing is, out there crisscrossing our state, on our tax dollars, the self-invented Nerd persona is "rebranding Obamacare" fighting to entangle Michigan further into the very Law Obama Barry Soetoro breaks.

Why Hell, Rick Snyder is even for breaking Obamacare Law with Amnesty exemption hiring preference for those whose first actions is breaking the Law entering the U.S. illegally.

Rummaging through the 'ol inbox this morning, I came across an excellent piece from Michigan Capitol Confidential on JenniRick Nerdholm's, and his twit sidekick, Lt. SmugNerd's bus tour buffoonery painting a happy face on Obamacare.

Snyder Administration Pushing To Distance Medicaid Expansion From Obamacare

Gov. Snyder, Lt. Gov. Calley and others now using the phrase, 'Healthy Michigan'

Originally, Obamacare included the expansion of Medicaid to help cover some of the nation's uninsured, but the U.S. Supreme Court said that was unconstitutional.

So, now the federal government is using money from the Obamacare bill to entice states to expand it on their own, says one health policy expert.

With that in mind, a recent tweet from the staff of Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley raised the eyebrows of Cato Institute's Mike Tanner, who wrote a book on Obamacare. Lt. Gov. Calley said the debate on Medicaid expansion is about reforming the system and is not linked to Obamacare.

"This is reform of our Medicaid system. Classifying it as 'Obamacare' is inaccurate," a Snyder administration staffer retweeted Lt. Gov. Calley as saying on July 2.

But Tanner says Obamacare is picking up the tab for any Medicaid expansion.

"The question to ask him (Lt. Gov. Calley) is: 'Would Michigan be taking these actions in the absence of Obamacare promises for future funding?' " Tanner said.

    REST

    "Healthy Michigan" explained...

Jeez, I just cannot imagine how could've the former mASSachusetts's governor who enacted Romneycare before it was known as Obamacare lost to Obama last November...

Teh Stoopid Party in Michigan remains dead to me.

If anything, Majority Leader Randy Richardville said, he saved Gov. Rick Snyder from a big defeat more than two weeks ago by not calling a vote on House legislation to expand eligibility for government-provided health insurance to 320,000 low-income adults in 2014. The Republican governor had cut short a trade trip in Israel to return home and lobby the GOP-dominated Senate.

"I think he was convinced that the votes were there. I'm in the room where those votes get counted," Richardville, of Monroe, told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday, the day he outlined his expectations for a Senate workgroup that will study Medicaid expansion this summer.

"This debate, this issue, is alive because I provided leadership on this issue based on the feedback from the Senate Republican caucus. This thing was dead if we had taken a vote when it was being demanded that we take a vote. It wasn't a gentle request. There was a demand and then after the demand there was a - they called it a press conference. I've got other words to describe it, but I'm not going to use them."

Give him credit - he came through, we read.  A special thank you, we read.

GMAFB. There isn't enough paint on the planet for trying the "happy face" schtick with loser Snyder and Schostak at the helm.

    From Wednesday:

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today offered the following statement as the July 4 holiday weekend gets under way:

"... That's why I applaud the U.S. Senate for its passage of bipartisan immigration reform legislation, and urge the U.S. House to do the same. [snip]"

Rick Snyder just placed ObamaCare exemptions (amnesty) to the front of the line over hiring already unemployed American citizens!

This corporate limousine liberal has to go.  The sooner it is admitted that voting Snyder in 2010 because "he's a Republican" was a mistake, the faster Party principle will be restored and upheld.

The choice is yours, but in this state with Snyder and Schostak at the helm - the Republican Party remains dead to me.  Lon's MDP team is on equal footing.

Or not too late for the GOP.

I am holding on to a little hope that the appropriate response from Michigan Republicans will be to toss aside the taint that threatens our cohesion.  For years we have seen the discussion of whether or not the Republican party is worthy of support from conservatives here and in other places. Many including myself have in the past, defended the possibility that the party could be salvaged, and did what needed to be done to be a part of a successful 2010 election season. It was somewhat short lived however, as the establishment parasites seeing something succeed without them then attempted to reconstruct their control based on the 'Tea' won goodwill.

We didn't win 2010 so that Republicans can feel energized to pass Obama-esque legislation.  Fool-me-once is already a worn out term, and the fear of losing is gone.  There are no more chances. A couple of days ago, a prominent leader of the conservative movement opined that Republicans might easily go the way of the Whigs. When Republicans don't act like Republicans, and those who hold principles dear can only feel used, its time to move on. Sarah Palin:

"If Republican leaders continue to "back away from the planks in our platform" and the principles on which the party of Lincoln and Reagan was founded, then rank-and-file Republicans with a "libertarian streak" might strike out on their own, Ms. Palin said."
And I would dare say its not just those with a 'Libertarian streak'.

There is still time, but not very much however.

If there is even a chance that the GOP, and particularly in Michigan, wishes to survive even one more election cycle, it had best see some serious soul searching.

    Pay attention below the fold.

Tuesday Divertere - Pirro Sums It Up

Generally the front page won't see too much of the national news that has no Michigan ties.

However, Judge Jeanine Pirro in this clip puts the most appropriate perspective on the Benghazi affair that I have seen.  There are a lot of questions that need to be answered, and I'll stop short of total agreement with, or assigning motives to the administrations lack of action and its subsequent cover ups, but I recognize incompetence when I see it.  Only the most shallow butt kissing sycophant could not recognize this administration is in way over its head.

    Well done Judge.

May 7th - Today is Election Day

Here's a list of elections today

There are a lot of elections today across the state, and many are flying below the radar.

In parts of Livingston County, we have three elections today.

    1. Howell, Howell Township, Cohoctah Township - County Commissioner District 5 Special Primary - We need a good turnout today. Don Parker needs our support. A good turnout today gains momentum for August. Today and August are special elections, so all the conventional wisdom can be thrown out. We can not take this election for granted. Parker is a solid conservative, and has shown that in his previous time as a county commissioner.

    2. Dexter Schools - Millage renewal. Part of Hamburg Township is in Dexter Schools.

    3. Hartland Schools - Millage renewal.

Our Michigan tax dollars at work obstructing our 2nd Amendment Rights while criminals roam freely.

Seeking to make a point about firearms, a Michigan man decided to open carry his .45-cal. handgun at his daughter's school and later uploaded the footage to YouTube. The father says he made sure to first notify the school, the Michigan State Police, the county sheriff and other local law enforcement officials that he would be exercising his right to carry a gun.
    ....

The rest of the man's trip to the school was seemingly incident free. He later had a conversation with the deputy about Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder recently vetoing a bill that would have permitted citizens with extra training to carry concealed weapons.

"To be honest with you, that would be better," the woman identified as a deputy says, talking about concealed carry.

    MORE

Nah, deputy ma'am.  The stealth Democrat Nerd knows what's better for Law-abiding citizens than even the dwindling 2012 republican majority in the legislature.
