The era of ever increasing tuition, leftist games, foreign technology transfers and racist admission policies could be over.

I'll let Henry cover this one

Replacing retiring President Mary Sue Coleman offers the University of Michigan a historic opportunity to reboot with an administrator who embraces a 21st century, colorblind admissions policy that is succeeding in states like California. The university's board could signal the new era by including Jennifer Gratz on its presidential search committee.
    Its a good start.

The People's U of M holds a special place in the hearts of many Michiganians. Many people who would never have been admitted to UM for whatever reason are rabid Michigan sports fans and gladly show their loyalty by purchasing licensed merchandise of which the M gets a kickback. Just try and suggest to any rabid UM supporter, sports or otherwise, that maybe perhaps public funding of their private club should come to an end. That just isn't to be heard of. The institution that bills itself as the Harvard of the West doesn't take it all the way and become a private self sustaining university as is Harvard.
A recent move afoot in one of the houses of the state legislature to limit funding to schools, including UM, that signed long term union contracts which essentially did an end around of RTW was met with strong resistance by, among others, the UM alum Jennif...er, uh Rick Snyder. The point could be made that Snyder will hopefully be done after '14 and a new governor might go along with defunding UM with state dollars. Except that history shows us that every governor in recent memory, alum or not, has benefited from in some way, and been supportive of the Patrice Lumumba University clone in AA. We're paying for a Pure Michigan ad running right now which, while not specifically naming UM, does highlight Moscow on the Huron. The implication is there.
MCRI is in the US Supreme Court right now. That was the place that was going to stop MaoBamaCare dead in its tracks. Are we confident that court will do the right thing?
As despicable as Coleman is, she is only the very effective fuehrer of the People's University of Michigan. It is the PUM that wields the eternal power and will continue to do what it likes at our expense.

I'd love to hear the defenders racism at UofM respond to this:

"During her (and Bollinger's) reign, blacks and Hispanics graduated at 20 percent lower rates than their white, Indian and Asian peers. Hailed for her determination in building an elite academic university -- a $3 billion "Michigan Difference" fundraising campaign and world-class facilities -- Coleman paradoxically patronized minorities with a lesser standard of admission in the name of "diversity." The result doomed underqualified minority students to failure, casting them degreeless into the working world."

    Should be interesting...

interesting piece on why conservatives (and particularly Republicans)  might wish to consider.

    He notes:

"I agree with the topic of  his online column & specifically his closing thought :

"Non-leftists who give money to an American university are usually funding the erosion of that university as well as the erosion of their own values."
