    A Great Curve Ball

A great curve ball never stays in the strike zone, it just appears that it will to the batter.

The lineup on the 2013 US House team has changed, but the tired old manager with a losing record is back for another term. And even though we just started the new season, it looks to be another losing season for the GOP in general, and America in particular.

I'm an old dog, but I've learned a few new tricks, and I'm hopeful John Boehner can do the same. And something that he needs to learn in a hurry is the art of deception, and to take advantage of the element of surprise.

Obama ate the GOP and Boehner's lunch again during the fiscal cliff hit parade, and he's licking his chops and looking forward to dessert during the debt ceiling crisis coming up next inning.

So let's give him a change up. After all, we know what hasn't worked, and it's time to stop hoping for different results while using the same old pitches.

How about telling Obama and the press exactly what they want to hear? Obama wants to raise the debt ceiling? No problem, consider it done. Obama and the leftists wanna spend more? That's their right, elections have consequences, we can't stop ya and we aim to please. Tell us how much you want, and we'll get it for ya. And then watch them fall all over themselves, slapping each other on the back, praising the new-found wisdom of the GOP, and hearing the GOP base coming absolutely unglued to boot. It's all good, they'll say.

Let this recipe for disaster simmer and cook for awhile, and welcome any and all additions to the leftist pork barrel as the Democrats reveal all of their sordid schemes and dreams.

And just before the debt ceiling deadline arrives, inform America and the President that while you agree that they have lots of important things to buy, we- as opposed to our children and grandchildren, will now be required to pay for them, and here's the new tax rates to be imposed on all working Americans, regardless of how much they make. You'll be happy to raise that pesky debt ceiling as high as they want, because with everything on the wish list being paid for- the debt will finally stop rising.

Now obviously, raising an additional trillion dollars a year is absolutely absurd, but no more so than spending it with your children's credit card.

And while you're explaining the folly and moral bankruptcy of spending money you don't have, you also illustrate an hour long list- complete with in-depth details and embarrassing descriptions of every obscene waste of the taxpayer's money that happens day after day and year after sad year.

And then you conclude with 3 choices for the leftists and America.

You get to keep your spending, but you have to pay for it now. Or, you get your debt ceiling increase at any amount you desire, but you will be required to accept an equivalent cut in the previous year's amount of spending in an equal amount for the current year- as long as there is no deficit spending, or you can shut this baby down until you pick one of the first two.

Would there be fallout from this fantasy scenario? You bet there would. But there would also be a complete understanding of what it means to pay for this financial version of Russian Roulette. It would become plainly clear what the cost of a malevolent govt really does feel like, with the added benefit of seeing who they really are- in real time.

I saw more of the same old tired and shameful status quo during the first day of the new Congress, and I'm sure the nauseous feeling I experienced was widely felt nationwide.

It's time for a change, and I'm up for a good ol' fashioned slugfest. Play ball!
