The Michigan Welfare Rights Organization (MWRO), headed by Maureen Taylor, has been telling Detroit welfare recipients to occupy foreclosed homes around the city. "You can't imagine," Taylor told WWJ in Detroit, "when we get to work at 9 and 10 in the morning, there are 20 to 30 people in the hallway talking about `I don't have any more money, my rent is due' - three or four months behind - what can I do? And its unreal, because we don't have answers except to say, `here's a list of houses that we have intercepted that have been repossessed by banks, pick one and move in.'" To boot these trespassers out of the homes, banks are forced to take MWRO to court.

I am thinking what kind of hours does this broad have?  When I get to work at 9 or 10 am?????  Typical moocher lib - can't even get into work at a decent time.  Then again her customer base isn't even awake that early in the morning.

What am I talking about...they are welfare leeches.

    From Detroit.

    Got it.

Well, if Ms. Taylor is big on letting her "clientele" get incinerated...she can be my guest.

Because of the sheer number of arson fires in Detroit each year, the Detroit Fire Commissioner is suggesting just letting abandoned homes burn to the ground.

Before everyone starts to get irate, these are the facts.

The city has no money. Even with Gov. Snyder's "payday advance" Detroit will most likely file for bankruptcy within two years.

The locals have been burning things down since at least '67.

As strange as this sounds, this actually isn't a bad idea. The resources simply aren't there to cover for someone's urge to roast weenies & s'mores with the corner house, using a set of jumper cables to reconnect the power to a structure that DTE disconnected for non-payment months ago, or even plain trying to cover for someone they just shot earlier that day.

one-way tickets to California where they can claim to be illegal "immigrants" and qualify for all sorts of Pelosi-Boxer sympathy and Gov. Moonbeam aid?

California welfare system can be their "family."

I had to follow up with this after some conversations with with my co-workers and other drivers on the road this week. It has to do with one Maureen Taylor and the popular mindset that illustrates perfectly why the Detroit has failed.

The first part is her appearance on Charlie Langton's show on Tuesday. Not necessarily about welfare rights, but selling city assets.

    Podcast - Part 1.

Podcast - Part 2 (Taking callers and getting interesting...especially around the 4:30 mark).

The second was on Fox 2 Detroit's "Let it Rip" on Thursday.

Ms. Taylor makes a statement that couldn't describe her position any clearer.

"You can just walk into a house and say that it is my house. I'm doin' it every day!"

    Hmmmmmm....where have I heard?

    Oh yeah.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"
