Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

Prime example of how far out of touch ALL public employment really is.

    via Human Events

Terri List says she would tell her students not to become a teacher in Michigan.

    Why?

One of the reasons is because the Saginaw Township Community School District English teacher won't be able to retire at age 47 as she has hoped.

List was highlighted by the Michigan Education Association as one of the critics of Senate Bill 1040, which would require public school employees to contribute at least 5 percent of their compensation to their retirement plan.

The MEA reported on its website: "Saginaw Township teacher Terry (sic) List had hoped to retire in the next three years when she was 47 years old. That wouldn't be possible under SB 1040. List would have to work another 16 years to be eligible for health benefits."

"By the time I'm 60, I would have put in 43 years of service, earning a salary at the top of the pay scale. How does that save the district money? You could hire two people for the cost of one and encourage young people to join the profession. Right now, I would not recommend to my pupils to become a teacher in Michigan."

List didn't respond to an email seeking comment.

    Rest here

Fire 'em all.  Fuggin' goonionized leeches.

"Charles Owens, president of the Michigan chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business, said tongue-in-cheek that List was "spot on" in her complaint.

"If you want to retire if you are 47, apparently teaching is not the place to go," Owens said. "The least Terri could do is provide a list of places other people could go so they can retire when they are 47."

Good question: Why should I have to continue to work just so that Ms. List can enjoy the Life of Riley?

And contributing to my own IRA & 401(k)?

    What was I thinking?!?

Even if the majority of public employees were bad apples, that's no proof that ALL of public employment is out of touch with reality.

Come on, Scaly, keep it at least logical.

But good job on the cut and paste.  I've noticed how a lot of what you post on here isn't actually your own thoughts but content just copied from other websites.

Government workers unions should be illegal.

I don't know about firing all of them, but clearly Miss List is neither an economics teacher nor an expert in public relations.  What I would like to know is, who was representing me, the taxpayer, when ridiculously lavish benefits and pension packages were being awarded to the union membership in exchange for the support of a monolithic voting bloc.

It's a picture perfect business model written exactly bass ackwards.  Screw the customer, what we wants is some financially comfortable employees who cannot wait until the day that they get to quit. What business on earth could stay afloat with such an attitude if it were not owned by, managed by, and staffed by the bureaucracy?

I understand that certain employees are upset with this development, but I'm thrilled that somebody is finally representing my interests.

All have problems with math. Remember when his Bubbaness claimed to have a bugit surplus, yet the National debt was about 8 trillion bucks. That is like saying you have money left from your check but you still owe the bank for your car loan and home mortgage.
Hillary Clinton went unnamed for three years according to her account of how she got her name. Supposedly she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary after he scaled Mt Everest. To bad that happened three years AFTER she was born.
And who could forget when John F'in Kerry regaled us with tales of how Richard M. Nixon was responsible for him having to spend Christmas 1968 in Cambodia. Why he was listening to Nixon he never explained instead of LBJ the commander and chief. Nixon never took the oath until January 20, 1969. So once more we have proof these people are either very deficient when it comes to the truth or they are just plain dumb.
