    I didn't know about a private plan underway... (none / 0) (#1)

...to go under the Detroit River (again).

Interesting factoid: there are actually THREE tunnels under the Detroit River currently.

The one that everyone knows is the traffic tunnel near the corner of Jefferson and Randolph

The other two are railroad tunnels. One by 12th and Jefferson (still in use). The other along St. Aubin (abandoned).

Other interesting factoid: the guv was on Charlie Langton this morning doling out the kool aid. Most of the callers weren't very supportive. Can't imaging why.

    • Calling the Canadian "loan" a "partnership advance". His words, not mine.

    • Claiming that The Bridge Company is working to mislead people over Prop 6.

    • Claiming that the ballot language will stop ALL bridge construction in Michigan.

How the guv got that, from this:

"Require the approval of a majority of voters at a statewide election and in each municipality where "new international bridges or tunnels for motor vehicles" are to be located before the State of Michigan may expend state funds or resources for acquiring land, designing, soliciting bids for, constructing, financing, or promoting new international bridges or tunnels."

    is beyond me.

He's scheduled for a repeat performance tonight on "Let it Rip".

I haven't heard who the other guests are. Should be good either way.

The problem with 100-words or less... (none / 0) (#5)

...is that you invariably chop out important little details like this:

"d) "New international bridges or tunnels for motor vehicles" shall mean any bridge or tunnel which is not open to the public and serving traffic as of January 1, 2012. No vested rights are attributed to any state international bridge or tunnel initiative that is not serving traffic as of that date."

Still waiting for one of the guv's flying monkeys to explain this:

    U.S. Constitution - Article 1 Section 10 (in part)

"No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; "

Making this, in any way, even remotely legal?
