    Politically Korrect

    Hit me.

I mean it. If ever I get so self centered with my writing that I make the left turn towards apologizing for the actions of my fellow Republicans, whack me upside the head. Particularly when it is for behaving like Republicans.  Particularly on issues that go further into the book than a simple cover.

Hit me if I ever write stuff like this:

"But Michigan Republican can't seem to stop there, largely because they have a determined constituency of social conservatives and angry knee-jerkers who want what they want, regardless of whether it accomplishes anything. So along with the economic changes the state badly needs, we get proposals to mandating the Pledge of Allegiance, drug-testing welfare recipients, and banning domestic partner benefits for some public employees."

Regardless if it accomplishes anything?  Of course it accomplishes something.  In fact, when looking at drug testing for welfare, does it not encourage those who wish to receive assistance, to take a little ownership of their situation?  At the very least they can transform themselves into non drug abusing recipients, and at best it might encourage them to seek help and social redemption.

"Umm sorry we won, Mm-k you poor Dems? Like I apologize for all the extremism my friends are going to unleash, all right?"

Never heard of 'hard love' I guess, huh? Of course, never mind.  The key to mom's door is still under the ceramic frog .. just in case.

    More below ~

And as for domestic partner bennies? Get over it.  It was being abused as these things do.  Why have the taxpayer foot the bill for shacking up roomies? Under the way it was, who was it limited to? A little misplaced concern on the homo's behest me-think.

And as for that pledge of allegiance?  You gotta problem with the pledge mister?

    Just say it then.

"They even passed a law "banning" partial-birth abortion, which is already illegal at the federal level, just to make anti-abortion activists happy."

Nothing like feeding a baby into the grinder as he enters the world. Problem with an anti murder law? Duplicate it three times, or four.  Never can have enough protection from the murderous butchery that cuts apart little people who cannot fight back.  Its a darkened soul that has a problem with these types of protections.  Usually reserved for leftists, and mass murderers.

"And when it comes to manipulating the democratic process for their own self-serving purposes, Michigan Republicans have been second to no one. They drew congressional and legislative district maps so contorted and absurd, the only defense anyone can come up with is to suggest that Democrats would have done the same thing if given the chance."

Well, the Dems would.  But I am all for a more natural draw out, because gerrymandering results in the loony tune characters actually making it in the hard core Democrat districts. It then tends to normalize their ideas in some strange manner.  Relative to decades past, there is some very odd thinking nowadays that passes for normal.  I guess some writers pick that crap up too.

Someday there will be a vaccine for that .. I hope.

"The GOP has been so blatant about grabbing power through redistricting, it even passed a law that allowed it to throw out Democratic-drawn Oakland County Commission districts - after the fact - because it didn't like the outcome. Republican Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is misusing her office to put ridiculous requirements on voter registration groups, who tend to lean Democratic."

Ruth Johnson is straight up appropriate, and don't you forget it.  The abuse through election fraud has given us this administration and will continue to threaten this country for years to come.  I would welcome her rules, and frankly anyone with any semblance of respect for their own vote ought to as well.

"This is all stupid. Republicans don't know how to tell social conservatives that it's not government's job to make their dreams come true. They don't know how to tell haters that welfare recipients are entitled to the same equal protection under the law as everyone else."

These ain't dreams baby.  They're corrections. Repairs.

Why is it you progressives always have to go to the 'hater' route?  Dig deep and dredge up those irrational emotions?

Fully bereft of logic, reasoning, and fully ignorant of cause and effect, its your last hope.

    Because you have nothing else.

    . . . I can't pass this up.

I forget who originally said it, but "political correctness" is the severely misguided philosophy that's it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

But then, we have political stupidity too! (none / 0) (#6)

I've been strangely facinated by the stupidity of a front man for Fair Tax. This very visible person comes out very strong for RP. SMH! First, in such an area with such a position, one would think they'd be more informed as to what real freedom and liberty looks like and how to spot a poser. This so greatly undermines the fair tax position, imo, that...I'm just shocked.

CS, help me out here: I wanna say something like, "dumb effing hippy" but yet I don't really want to be rude or show a lack of language skillz.

I know, off topic a bit but there isn't one specific for this and I thought I could make this work if I squeezed it in here.
