Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

    Set those DVR's.

If you live in SE Michigan, Channel 7 is going to have another one of their Detroit 2020 specials on tonight. It will also be available via webcast.

    Why is this posted here?

    {Continued after the fold}

For those who aren't familiar with this, it is one of those community "Hey, look at us we're doing something" outreach-type programs (read: tonight's episode of...whatever, is just another re-run anyway).

Not really a big proponent of fluff programming like this.

Anyone who wants to "...address the challenges facing the region," by taking people on a guided tour of the touristy areas of Detroit, while simultaneously ignoring the 95%+ of the city that looks like a third world country, isn't really serious about facing the problems. Sadly, I have yet to hear back from either Gov Snyder or Mayor Bloomberg's people regarding my offer of a personal foot tour of Detroit. :-(

Anyway, tonight's show will have a number of speakers including Maha Freij from ACCESS (CS, feel free to chime in about her) and the Tavis Smiley of the local paper: Rochelle Riley (just tell her that you're a racist and she'll be happy).

Not the people you'd expect me to stump for here at RM?

    You're right

Also among the lineup is MTA Director and one of the people who helped to bring the MCRI to Michigan: Leon Drolet.

    The show starts at 7:00pm.

    For the uninitiated... (5.00 / 1) (#1)

For those who haven't had the pleasure of watching a Detroit 2020 segment, imagine if Mitch Albom wrote a Jennifer Granholm policy brief and had Jeff Daniels direct it and then hosed it with 100,000 gallons of Detroit cheerleading kool-aid.

They highlight the most tired "ideas" that have been proven failures over the past 10 or 20 years. Light rail! Movies! Puke!

It just goes to show you how provincial and stupid 90% of the people in this area are if they're willing to eat up this stale garbage.

    But .. but .. but... KG?!?! (none / 0) (#3)

I thought all of Detroit's problems were solved.  No?  They need more billions?  Frankly, I did squander a moment perusing their 'issues' page.

Yep.  I got a new PURE Michigan ad for ya...

Southeast Michigan! it's a good place to be    from.

ACCESS?  Now what could we possibly learn on the finely founded Dearbornistan institution that has not been known or could possibly not be known today?  Perhaps, another wave of friends of the founder of ACCESS getting a little recognition?  Personal fave is... Jihad "Jim" Sayed.  Gee, let's play guess the name of the religion.

    Asalamalakum bro!

    Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
