According to today's Detroit News:

"Michigan's ban on using race and gender as a factor in admission to public colleges and universities was overturned today by a federal appeals court, which said the voter-approved measure harms minorities and is unconstitutional.
...
The judges ruled that the law violates the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment."

Only in America.

Michigan Constitution Article 1 § 26:

"The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual
or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting."

Pretty straightforward, huh?

After getting overwhelming support from the voters, and opponents trounced again, again, and again, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit has struck down the MCRI, banning racism in college admissions.

Michigan AG Schuette has already announced he will appeal.

. . . a similar report from the Ivory Tower on this matter. The Freep pointed out that Judge R. Guy Cole and Judge Martha Daughtrey are Clinton appointees, while Judge Julia Gibbons is a Bush appointee.

I know that we don't often think of it this way, but the 58% to 42% vote to approve MCRI as an amendment to the Michigan Constitution was also a vote to permanently end segregation in Michigan. It seems that the socialist-progressive-liberals are quite content to use any means necesary to preserve racial segregation in America.

Apparently, elections only have consequences when the socialist-progressive-liberals win; otherwise, the results can always be undone by court action. I agree with Jennifer Gratz's assessment that this ruling was timed specifically to attract minimal press attention.

From what I can see, this decision has "reverse me" written all over it. Major kudos to A.G. Schuette for acting in a way that keeps MCRI in place while the appeal plays out.

The only question is whether or not this goes all the way to SCOTUS.

When white people reach the point where they are a minority due to birthrate and illegal and legal immigration, will they be afford the same zealous protections due to their minority status as the current "victims" of society?
