Billdo53 Comments On Our Smoking Ban

It's comical to me that the comments in the local Pravda are of more value that what's written by the salaried fish wrap scribes itself.  From Billdo53.

I now like the ban.. it's saved me hundreds of dollars... I just don't go to bars anymore... fixed up my "Man Cave" and have 2, 3, or 4 people over several days a week to watch the Tigers, NBA Playoffs, Stanley Cup Finals, and Golf... not all of us smoke, but we all enjoy the .75 per bottle of Labatt Blue... can also burn a fatty while we're at it... I figure in the last year, I have saved about $2,500 from not going to the bar and having some beers and playing Keno...

Welcome aboard, my brother.  I've been saying the same thing for almost a year now.

    Keno (none / 0) (#1)

The legislators who agreed with this nonsense sure as hell stepped on the Keno franchise.   Aunt's Keno business is shot, and now she has to pay a "minimum" fee or lose it altogether.

    Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Just after Resident Obysmal visited Ohio pitching his gifted Chrysler to the UAW & FIAT, err, Auto Bailouts and dropping locals names, an eatery that's been around since 1923 closes its doors.

A small north Toledo eatery whose origins date back to 1923 will close Sunday, just days after being feted in a speech to Chrysler workers by President Obama...

Chet's owner Mr. Lawrence, 82, was shot twice during a robbery outside his restaurant on May 19, 2008, while attempting to help what he thought was a man with a disabled automobile.

Although Mr. Lawrence lived, his injuries left him unable to do work he'd done since buying the small restaurant in 1973 when it was the burned-out remnants of the former Chet's Hot Dog.

Chet's Hot Dog had opened in 1939, taking the place of another restaurant on the same site that had opened in 1923.

"Since I've been shot, I haven't been able to cook," Mr. Lawrence said Wednesday. "It was the economy and the smoking ban that hurt us more than anything."

Mr. Lawrence said a lack of business made the economics of paying someone to cook for his restaurant no longer sustainable. He placed the business up for sale and last week turned it over to a local real estate company. The contraction of the automotive industry didn't help either, he added.

The costs of smoke-free air claims another business...
