Members of a Wayne County economic development nonprofit that gave Turkia Mullin a $75,000 bonus last year voted this week to ban similar payouts.
The board members of Edge Opportunities, also known as the Wayne County Business Development Corp., met on Monday and made the move, according to a press release from its new chairman, Jeffrey Collins, the incoming deputy county executive.
Collins was elected the new chairman Monday and Ray Byers, the incoming county economic development chief, was elected the new executive director. County Executive Robert Ficano brought the two on staff two weeks ago after announcing the departure of Deputy County Executive Azzam Elder.

Too late Wayne County, the cat's already out of the bag.

Yep. Everyone with a brain knows about that.

Today, in The Detroit News, this fascinating twist is being reported:
"The nonprofit is registered to Mullin's sister's house in Birmingham, according to state and IRS records," the paper's Christine MacDonald and Karen Bouffard report. "The sister, Mariam Awada, bought the house in 2006 for nearly $2.5 million from Kathleen M. Harrington, the wife of Patrick Harrington, according to county and city records.
"Records show Patrick Harrington is an imprisoned mortgage broker who was involved in two gas station sales that led to Mullin being sued for legal malpractice while she was in private practice. Mullin settled one lawsuit, and in another a jury found she was professionally negligent but owed no damages. She wasn't charged and didn't face professional sanctions.
"Mullin lived at the home after her divorce, but no longer resides there, her attorney Michael Sullivan said in an e-mail. Sullivan said of Awada's purchase of the home: 'If it was Mr. Harrington's wife, that is a mere coincidence.'"

A "mere coincidence"? Sure it is. Just like the monkey that flew out of my ass was "a mere coincidence" while writing this post. Why hell, they even got monkeys flying out their asses in parking lots in Dearborn, but that's nothing new for that city. It's why I bailed from it while I could still get something for my property.

No. What is truly interesting in this latest move by the Wayne County Business Development Corp. is how p!ss-your-pants reactionary complicit in appearance it all is.

Frankly, I really don't have all that much faith in the Feds involvement in Wayne County with the Eric Holder DoJ calling the shots, and the history observed that happened to Mr. Convertino. But, with our State AG, I know damn well that we can all rest easy knowing that the disease debilitated clown colors burning the occasional fatty are top priority.
