Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

Stupak sees the writing on the wall

Don't ever say I failed to praise a representative for doing the right thing.  Personally, I applaud Bart Stupak for helping to derail the outright insane health care boondoggle the Democrats in this congress is trying to forward to the President's desk.  The Ivory tower reports:
"Michigan's congressional delegation appears split along partisan lines for any health-care vote -- with one notable exception: Rep. Bart Stupak.

The Menominee Democrat says he can't support the proposal he's seen and not just because it lacks a provision he authored in a previous version to bar insurers receiving government subsidies from paying for abortions.

He can't support an excise tax on higher-priced health care plans, even with the amount at which it kicks in moved higher, and he doesn't like that the effective date for some parts of the legislation has been moved as far off as 2018.

    "That's insane," Stupak said."

I know he CANNOT be surprised..

Even the "Republican" measures the president had peppered the morphing monstrosity weren't enough to sway Stupak who has a reasonably decent record on abortion issues.  Sans the language, it is all but assured the money used in the general process of providing health care would also fund "reproductive services," (a term loosely used)that could include abortion on demand.

Though Stupak likely wants a package pushed through with his provisions added, he at least appears to be willing to take the heat for his defense of the sanctity of life.  The report concludes with this:

As for Stupak, he said his huge district, covering the Upper Peninsula and much of the northern Lower Peninsula as well, is evenly divided over the legislation.

"I'm going to catch hell no matter how I vote," he said.

    So true..

Funny however, is how the Democrats have allowed themselves to be backed up against this wall, and into the corner where they either save their skin, or perhaps their soul.

Good call MR. Stupak.  Stick with it.

He will fold!  He is a party democrat.  He might throw a hissy fit for some face time on the major networks but he WILL vote for it.

As a moderate or Conservative Democrat. No matter how they sound when they are on the campaign trail they all seem to fall into lockstep with Pelosi and the freaks on the ultra left. The last of the breed that could rightly be called a Conservative Democrat was Zell Miller. Face it. The Democrat party of old has been hi-jacked by the anti-establishment types from the 60s. It is a patchwork of Marxists, Communists, Socialists and Progressives and Eco-terrorist that hate this country and want us to become like Cuba, the old Soviet Union or North Korea. These people have demonstrated time and again they cannot be trusted with power. Now we have the closet thing to a Tyrant running this country with a one party rule. This I would hope would be a lesson to the people of this country who from time to time throw their votes way in support of Liberals. The old Democrat Party is dead and gone. The new party emerged in the mid 60s and they have gotten more and more radical every since. We have ONE chance to save the Republic. That is in November of this year. I hope we are wise enough to make the right decision. We need to remove the anti-American, anti-Capitalist leftist that have taken over by hook or by crook. We can and must restore the Republic to the origins of the Founders.

"I'm going to catch hell no matter how I vote."

He nailed that one on the head.  There are plenty of reasons to give this control freak hell regardless of how he votes on health care.
