Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

It will still be here after he is gone.

"Read The Prospectus.."  The statement made when a company has hired a firm to solicit your buying of their stock.  A required procedure, but one that doesn't limit you to its singular element.

Most savvy buyers of stocks and businesses rely on more than the published plan, or promises of the people who are attempting to raise money through those stocks.  Sometimes they look a little deeper into the workings of the company they would buy into. Sometimes they might even look into the history of the CEO, The CFO, and the other primary interests involved.  Associations of individuals, track records, reliability...  All these things matter when deciding on any pursuit of investments in the several million dollar range.

But maybe not so much with our state government.

The first I had heard of scam artist Richard Allen Short was in Rougman's article yesterday..  My immediate response as posted.. "DOH!"

After a while, it began to sink in what the ramifications of this are.  What could possibly make this more embarrassing for the Governor who wants to raise taxes to support more of this type of "business venture," or the MEDC, which already has closed its books from transparency because of a failure to actually accomplish its stated goals?

As usual, this administrations goals are to jump headfirst into the new "Green Economy." Her objectives have been straight forward on this issue, and when given this line (from Sharp's company website) it must have sent tingles all the way up the legs of her cronies who dole out the cash at the MEDC..

"THE RENEWABLE AND SUSTAINABLE COMPANIES, LLC (RASCO) is a privately held project management and economic development company formed by experienced leaders from the renewable energy, water, and telecommunications industries. Collectively, we have deployed or are in the process of deploying renewable energy, water and/or telecommunications projects in over twenty-five (25) countries and Island nations across Africa, Europe, North America and the People's Republic of China. Our Global Headquarters are based in Michigan, USA. Additional resources are located in the Washington, DC area to effectively interact with the World Bank, International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Global Environment Facility (GEF), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other related agencies who are critical advocates, supporters and funding sources for RASCO projects. Our telecommunications expertise and capabilities were recently enhanced through the acquisition of a wireless operator, with substantial experience in developing countries. "

Maybe the tingle rose all the way to where that synaptic driven critical thinking might lay dormant for just such an opportunity to arise.  Failure of course, was the only option.  Its in the genes. ..well at least in the way such organization as the MEDC is set up.

True market capitalism is not based on ideology. It cannot survive on wishes for particular results alone. Because a particular set of ideological mandates drives decisions to move money into industries that meet a political agenda, it does not mean there will be sustainable interest in that product.

Gullible are our legislators and executives to the claims of job creation in the field of green economics by activists and liars in the progressive (FAIL) movement. They have fallen so far into the misty eyed "we must do something" perspective, that the checks and verification of both promise and result are something no longer looked after.

Indeed, as the truth continues to unravel in the multimillion dollar fraud nearly perpetrated on the people of Michigan by a certain Richard Short, it reveals even more clearly the underlying problem we have when assigning investment strategy responsibility to bureaucrats.

For now we laugh for a moment at the failure of the MEDC and our state government to know whom they were assigning our tax dollars, but later we should weep as the MEDC will still be here, and simply doing more of the same.

My first reaction was also about the "green jobs" scam that this company was getting a tax break for.  How many other scam artists are out there doing the same thing?  They are getting stimulus money, federal grants, state grants, tax breaks, etc. all on the backs of the taxpayers.  Not to mention the fact that we supported his fraudulent arse while he was in prison.

I'll bet there are plenty of stories to be told about Granholm's under belly that have not seen the light of day.  Disgusting!

It will be here, it will be larger, it will be less efficient, and it will be an ever larger target of fraud.

We have so much to look forward to.
