Why Michigan Conservatives Need To Get Out And Vote

Michigan is truly a wonderful state and has many things going for it. Beautiful parks, geography, lakes, forests and four actual seasons.

We also have a strong tradition of innovation, manufacturing, engineering and design.

    We make things.

However, our states strong traditions have been under continuous assault from the progressive left for over 60 years. Progressivism has infested business, education and our state government.

We conservatives need to begin the roll back of the progressivism in our state and create a more conservative environment. An environment that is pro-economic growth, more individual freedom and an environment that is rooted in personal responsibility and not an all intrusive nanny state government.

The progressive nanny state ideology has even taken root in the Michigan GOP as evidenced by the selection of Rick Snyder as the Republican candidate for Governor.  Snyder is campaigning on many of the same failed policies that our current Governor, Democrat Jennifer Granholm (the worst Governor in America) has been championing for the last eight years.

This is very disappointing to conservatives across the state.

However, as disappointing as the selection of Snyder as the Republican candidate is, looking back, the other choices we were offered, they weren't too great either.

Enough with the capitulating! (none / 0) (#1)

I absolutely REFUSE to subscribe to the "lesser of two evils" argument!

By all means, vote this November.

But I can't stress this fact enough, there are candidates for offices that the MSM feels you do not need to know about. A listing can be found at this link.

For the record, based on their actions to date, there are no fundamental differences between Synder or Bernero. I fully expect Snyder to take, what he'll most likely label as pragmatic, approach to addressing next year's already $1.6-billion deficit (i.e. raise taxes).

And if you want candidate whom you will not be "holding your nose" when you vote, I highly recommend checking out this candidate.

Don't forget downticket and SUPREME COURT (none / 0) (#5)

There are good people running. Even if I need another shower after that governor's race, there are some races I can hold my head proudly on voting.

Justice Robert Young - Supreme Court. If you stay home and not vote because of Snyder, we lose in the courts. Young is one of the best there is.

Judge Mary Beth Kelly - She's solid and has the support of what was considered the best court in the country. Justices Young, Markman, Taylor, and Corrigan. I don't usually listen to endorsements much, but those matter to me.

Joe Hune and Bill Rogers - Joe was an excellent state rep and will be a good senator. Bill's doing a good job on appropriations fighting the good fight.

Ruth Johnson has fought corruption. Jocelyn Benson will enable it.

Mitch Lyons and Brian Breslin will be good additions to the MSU board of trustees.

Mike Rogers voted against TARP twice (despite Bush), Stimulus, and the health care bill.

I made sure I voted. Not every race was the lesser of two evils either.
