Are you going to eat that?

The Obama administration may have trouble selling the remainder of its incredibly awful tasting gruel. Nothing says "over seasoned" like a good in-your-face repudiation of all that they have served in merely a year's time. How could you  possibly argue with a customer who under normal circumstances will take whatever it is you dish out, but now is throwing back what has been served.. directly at you?  Our federal and state governments may have to dodge a few more times lest they wear the sloppy sticky mess they have offered.

Michigan voters should note the incredible promise the election of Republican Scott Brown to a US Senate seat in MA holds.  It shows that even a quite dark blueberry state such as Massachusetts is capable of throwing away a decidedly distasteful mix of the socialist crap pie that has been getting force fed to this country's citizens.  Perhaps it was a little too much elitist spice, and not enough salt of the earth.

I suppose that no matter the ultimate half baked meal being served, it was enough for the same voters who had elected the ultra leftist liberal Ted Kennedy for multiple decades to say "enough is enough."  Perhaps it means it could happen in Michigan as well?

Truly Michigan and the rest of the country has been saddled with the peddlers of grand Utopian ideas and their recipes of promise.  All of it as wonderfully repugnant as snake oil and with an equally potent aftertaste. Indeed as the complaints of bitterness arise, it is because you have not consumed it properly, you didn't read the directions, or perhaps you were supposed to consume it rectally.  Our flavor of the month has perpetually been pol pot pie it seems, as Lansing or Washington doles out flavor after flavor to those who are politically connected, who bring the bums out to vote, and deliver enough rats for the stew just in time for supper.

But things changed last night... Drastically.

The bad cooks of public policy were put on notice.  Even with the burned out political taste buds that must inhabit the most liberal constituents in the state of Massachusetts, they finally realized what they were eating.  In a way most like that of John Belushi "popping a zit" in the food fight scene of Animal house, they sprayed back at their own creation, what must have foul tasting indeed.

While the administration wipes up however, we should expect them and their congressional apprentices to double down, adding a few more poisons to the kettle.  Though there will be some mess sergeant politicos seeking the tried and true blander recipes with meat and potatoes, perhaps hoping to remain not so offensive enough to lose their prep cook jobs, there will be some who will try for the Iron Chef position, insisting that we must eat it.. and then.. as they tell us to eat it.

Bring it on...  We'll have tea.

Unfortunately, Michigan must wait till 2012 to un-elect the tenderized meat puppet Debbie Stabenow.  Her renowned socialist soufflé  is quite bad and comes prepackaged from her handlers.  "Just add sour milk and a little global warming you can feel" and viola! Instant bureaucratic dependency!  Also, we must suffer through another 4 years of "Carl the ham" Levin, a heavily salting old school chef who's additives often make the meals seem tasty, but sometimes a little too well preserved, and over time quite harmful to the colon...  that might not be so ..Kosher.

And how about our state legislators? ... Yeah.. how about them?

Michigan should look to the way in which MA voters opened their taste buds long enough to realize that crap sandwiches do not taste so good, even if laden with enough pork and garlic to fend off a team of vampires and jihadists.  What MA voters smelled as dessert coming from the kitchen was even worse than what they were already eating as a main course, and wanted no more of it.  And they DID something about it.

Michigan voters can look at their legislators, their "servants," and determine if they are indeed willing to take some cooking classes.  The high temp "for the good of the people" efforts at restricting business practices, limiting reasonable land use, promoting specific medical practices, enticing "green enterprises," and artificial wage controls needs to stop.  The pressure cooker is about to blow.  The turkey is burned. The house is on fire.  Those who have added fuel to an already burning building need to return to a private life where they can do no more harm.

Look through the cook book of your legislator.  Is it dog food, staples or some exotic animal we might never have heard of that they are feeding us?

If he or she has shown a propensity to over "season" with restrictive and liberty diminishing laws, assume there are external guiding interests adding their own flavor to them.  All too often the legislative agenda is peppered with requests by "safety groups," "health organizations," "public policy" front groups for unions, and "children's advocacy" outfits.  The bills written all too often, are recipes which leave a bad aftertaste that just wont go away.

And we know now that if the meal served gives us indigestion, we can truly fire the cook..  And maybe the waiters too...  oh and call the dog to clean up in here..

What every voter needs to remember! (none / 0) (#1)
by LookingforReagan on Wed Jan 20, 2010 at 06:22:26 PM EST
On election day this year I would hope that as the voters drive to the polls they take a good look around as they travel. Look at all the empty homes with forlorn for sale signs in front of them.Homes that used to house families and relatives that have left Michigan to seek jobs and better lives elsewhere. See the shuttered buildings that used to house small business's and the factories where Michigan Mom's and Dad's used to make their livings. I want them to remember as they enter the polling place what Michigan used to be like. Vibrant, productive, bustling with activity as we produced products the world was happy to buy. Remember when Michigan had a 3.2% unemployment rate in 2000? Well below the national average and how all the bills were paid for the state and we had surpluses and a full rainy day fund. Our state had an economy that was the 6th largest in the world and a GDP that was larger then most countries.
All that changed with the the installation of Jennifer Granholm as our Governor in Jan.1, 2003. As Granholm prepares to leave office the first day of 2011 she leaves behind a smoking hole in the ground where the Michigan economy used to be. She and her minions like Andy Dillion, John Cherry and others in the state government along with the Union thugs that permeate the state conspired to destroy and ravage what was once a great state.WIth an unemployment rate that even Jimy Carter couldn't rival (10% for Carter, 15.3% for Granholm). What they leave behind is a carcass that has been nearly picked clean by cronyism and shady deals. Michigan deserves better, much better from the elected class. As we prepare to elect a new group of citizens to office to conduct the peoples business let us choose wisely. Let us pick leaders that will put Michigan first and will have the courage to tell Washington NO when they atempt to load on more cost through unfunded mandates.
We can turn this state around. But it won't be easy. The first step is to repudiate the Progressives and their leftist hangers on by electing leaders that will do what is best for the state regardless of party. We need to toss out those that think the state government is their personal piggy bank and rule over it as if it were a fifedom. If this state is to recover all of us must realize and assume our citizens responsibility and vote and then remain vigilant as to what those we have choosen do in our name.

    Food Network Analysis (none / 0) (#3)

I love the Food Network and after reading this article I may never want to cook another recipe from that site!

That said - we do need lots of fresh faces to lead our state back to prosperity.  It starts with permanent cuts to our government.  Every department and every budget - top to bottom.  Even though it means adding to the unemployment rolls - we cannot sustain the number of employees in state government.  Just cutting wages and benefits doesn't solve the problem.  Those concessions can be given back.  We need to downsize drastically and quickly to make up for the population/income loss this state has seen the last 5 years.

We also need to prepare for the complete collapse of the auto industry.  I do believe the Big 3 are going to go under.  They have their noses right up the arse of Washington DC and are dancing to their tune.  It is not going to work.  No one is going to buy what they are trying to sell in the venue of a green environment, green jobs, electric buggies and such.  Our economy will never be able to operate on what they are proposing for transportation.  What GM and Chrysler are doing right now is building their own nails for their own coffins.

And then it is good by Michigan.
