If enacted, this will yield a total School Aid Fund savings of $346.4 million..... According to ALEC, the average teacher salary in the United States for 2006-2007 was $46,593. Michigan has the 4th highest paid teachers on the list, with an average salary of $58,482. It appears a number of targeted Republicans by the MEA have gone to the dark side. CALL THEM TO FIND OUT More at the Mackinac Center [editor's note, by JGillman] Update - 6:30 It appears the Governor wants a "continuation budget" which requires a trip back through the senate, and the willingness of 3 or 4 Democrat Senators to get on board.. (They apparently did NOT do this the first time out) Perhaps Madame governor wishes to have more time for the MEA and other interested LABOR to twist arms.. The continuation budget is apparently a 1/12th of the Dillon Bishop deal which cuts $1.2B, so to make it happen will require more conversions. 7:41 apackof2: Nothing is moving..reps are listening to music, milling around, eating, reading...all on our dime! There's hype and politics on it but not facts. What would be the up and downsides? I know gov't employees wouldn't get paid, the union would not be happy.
