BUSTED! Huge Pro-ObamaCare crowd at Shauer's Office Were SEIU Thugs Bussed In From 100+ Miles Away!

Chicken littles are everywhere, just not in their districts meeting with their constituents. The entire New Hampshire congressional delegation has been put on the back of milk cartons. Dennis Cardoza (D-CA) is avoiding his home district entirely during the August recess. Dick Durbin is in the running for the most hypocritical of the chicken littles, as not only is he not doing any townhalls, but is meeting with lobbyists instead. Alan Garyson (D-FL) actually did do a townhall - in a union hall.

Here in Michigan, Democrats such as Bart Stupak and Mark Shauer are just hiding under their desks in their district offices. No townhalls. Unless you count telephone conference lectures from the reps to the constituents a "townhall." It's not.

Last week, a rally was held at the office of Mark Schauer, who is taking some flak for avoiding his constituents like they had the swine flu and he had no immune system. Last week, the Jackson Citizen Patroit had this:U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer's decision not to have town hall meeting fuels plans for rallies.

    more below the fold...

Members of Congress across the nation are getting lambasted over health-care reform, and U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer is no exception.

Three protests, organized by the Jackson County Republican Party, are scheduled to take place outside his Jackson district office this month. The party's chief complaint is Schauer's decision not to have a town hall meeting this month.

The first of several rallies occurred last Thursday, August 13, with another scheduled on the 20 and yet another on the 27th. As fortune seemed to have it, many turned out in favor of socialized medicine and in support of Schauer. The liberal media was ecstatic. The Soros-funded Michigan Messenger wrote a glowing review of the support for Shauer, with this being the only pic in their post:

Michigan Liberal was even more enthusiastic:UPDATED! - Schauer Supporters Turn Out BIG TIME!!!. The Jackson City Patriot (via MLive) was very happy with the pro-Schauer turnout: Hundreds come out to rally in Jackson over health-care reform. Note the tone of the piece right off the bat:

Supporters of health-care reform drowned out the cries of opposition Thursday afternoon as the two sides took the heated debate to U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer's front door.
Here's a YouTube video of the event, with Schauer showing his face to the friendly crowd for the first time in who knows how long:

    More from the JCP:
When a few protesters shouted at Schauer, the crowd shushed them.
So lots of pro-Schauer people in Schaur's own district, right? WRONG! On Tuesday night, the same author from the Jackson City Patriot that wrote the original glowing pro-Schauer piece had to admit that the Schauer supporters were literally bussed in from far away! And not just supporters in general, but the SEIU in particular! Again via MLive: Chris Gautz column: Yes, some were bused in for health-care rally in Jackson last week.

Several readers have criticized the Citizen Patriot's coverage of last week's health-care rally outside U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer's office, where hundreds came out -- both to support and oppose -- President Barack Obama's reform plan.

The chief criticism was that we failed to mention that some supporters were bused in from around the state.

It is true, and it wasn't included in the original story, but not because we were trying to slant coverage. The simple truth is it was a difficult fact to nail down.

You're reading this story today because Tuesday I was able to confirm with the Service Employees International Union that it rented vans and encouraged people to carpool to the event. About 100 SEIU members attended, from as far away as Muskegon and Detroit, said Zac Altefogt, a spokesman for SEIU Healthcare Michigan.

...this week, some readers e-mailed us photos of supporters standing in front of a bus from Trinity Transportation parked several blocks away near Family Video, 1111 W. Ganson St.

My colleague followed up with (OFA State Director) Henry. We told her we understood OFA hadn't chartered the buses, but we wondered if she knew who had. She refused to answer the question and then hung up the phone.

So now for the introductions: face, meet egg. Egg - face. Splat! Gateway Pundit latched on to the admission and had this earlier today (Here I get scooped in my own back yard due to job obligations!):

Organizing for America, which is the successor organization to Obama for America, held a pro-Obamacare rally last week in front of U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer's district office in Jackson, Michigan. The Obama Administration and their SEIU supporters bussed in protesters from as far away as Muskegon and Detroit.

Detroit to Jackson is 78 miles.
Muskegon to Jackson is 146 miles.

In addition, here's a short video of the SEIU membership, from the SEIU, proud to be there AstroTurfing the event:

Exit question: How is it that the MSM continue to indicate that protesters of Obamacare are AstroTurf, while ignoring the bussing in of ACORN, the SEIU and other thugs, some that have physically assaulted conservative protesters like Kimberly King and Ken Gladney?

The liberals are saying that HR3200 hasn't been debated yet and it's too early to comment on it. The debate has been going on for a months. They don't watch the CSPAN congressional feed or they lie as often as their leaders in congress. Well, they're not stupid. Obviously they're liars. Doubletalk and 'by any means necessary' is their weapon of choice. They speak of freedom and the rule of law while undermining the very things that support them.

This is a tremendous compilation and example of fine reporting.  And how about those pesky "job obligations"?  If it wasn't for our work, we could get a lot done!

... unless Rush Limbaugh mentions this, such obvious astroturfing will never see the light of day in the national media.

    Well written and researched piece.

Now I wonder what Beavis & Butt-Head (a.k.a. Reid & Pelosi) will say about these "astroturfers"?

Schauer Should Be Recalled (none / 0) (#9)
by MichWolverine on Thu Aug 20, 2009 at 12:36:00 PM EST

While Mark Schauer is busy spending his time and efforts pleasing society's parasites, Jackson and other Michgian cities will soon be ghost towns.

Schauer hasn't changed at all from the hilarious YouTube videos of his town hall visit to Jackson for the purpose of 'explaining' the stimulus plan. He showed up with his pre-printed talking points that had obviously been prepared by Nancy Pelosi's staff.

He stumbled, stammered, stuttered and whimpered his way through the meeting.  He was unprepared for a 'real' discussion of the subject.

The funniest part was when Schauer was actually upset that the crowd was laughing at him (particularly when he claimed that there was no 'pork' or earmarks in the stimulus bill).

Newsflash, Schauer.  They were laughing at you because you are a joke!
