Arguably, Dr. Rao's primary accomplishment at CMU is finding good football coaches. Unfortunately, VCU doesn't have a football team (but a great basketball team!).
VCU also has a fine (historic, venerable, respected) medical college, which of course CMU does not have. VCU is an urban commuter college with a large ethnic student population, while CMU is in Mount Pleasant (which is neither a Mount nor Pleasant) and a small ethnic student population. In fact, I can't see anything that Rao brings to the table... but at least CMU can move on. The locals have already caught on to Rao's track record, and the comments on the news story are very interesting....
