Today's Business Done Right article is a little behind..  Aside from being quite large, (not me.. the article..) I am hoping to receive some more correspondence before I put it to press.

It may be a long day.. So while we wait..

We should be reminded WHY this state is in the pickle it is in.  Cronyism, on the part of our legislative leadership, particularly with an emphasis on the rewarding of groups which deliver a particular constituency to the polls when needed, is ongoing.  The MEDC recently giving Millions of your dollars to SEIU to "locate" here, and now it seems some misguided Republicans in the state senate ready to reward them even more.

Wendy Day gave me a heads up today before she was a guest on the Norm Jones show to talk about SB731; "A bill to create the Michigan quality community care council."

The problem that Wendy has identified with the legislation is that it provides for the ENFORCEMENT of care providers against their will into a UNION environment.  This would provide even more dues payers and a host environment within the council itself that channels money to the SEIU coffers.

So we then put more money into the hands of the folks who have brought us this mess?  And who is it who sponsored this bill that would do such a thing?

August 5, 2009, Introduced by Senators ALLEN, KAHN, PATTERSON, BASHAM, GARCIA, STAMAS, GILBERT, SCOTT, OLSHOVE, CLARK-COLEMAN, SWITALSKI, JACOBS, JANSEN, CHERRY, RICHARDVILLE, BIRKHOLZ and WHITMER and referred to the Committee on Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs.

Republican Jason Allen, (My Senator) Republican Roger Kahn, Republican Garcia, Republican Stamas, Republican Gilbert, Republican JANSEN, Republican Richardville, Republican BIRKHOLZ, alongside the usual suspects (the Democrats with leadership from Cherry and Whitmer..)

Jason, et al.. Are you guys paying the slightest bit of attention?  Have you not seen the connection to bad law, too much government, and that place where you begin messing a little too much with the way people want to run their lives, do business, and simply live without the hammer of government bashing them on the skull in omne tempus?

Before this thing becomes and issue that puts 8 more of our Republican leaders in the crosshairs of the Tea Party permanently, perhaps a mea culpa in the form of a "right to work" amendment would be in order. hmm?

The MEDC recently gave millions to SEIU to locate here? Jesus, as cynical as I am I cannot believe this. You guys are absolutely right. Republicans need to stick to principle. If they want to squish on say affirmative action that's one thing. But if Republicans in this state cannot at least agree to fight economic populism and eschew the pressure of militant unionism, then they damn well know that they're basically selling the state down the road to a nuclear winter for at least the next generation. I've been in Texas the last six months for work. I'm planning on coming home for Christmas next week. I can only imagine what Michigan looks like after being further buried by Orwellian style government regulations of the economy.

    Wait! There's more... (none / 0) (#3)

Senator Allen received money from SEIU this summer.

    Contributions

With that said, I am not sure all of the co-sponsors knew what they were signing on to.  Senator Allen sells this as helping make sure grandma isn't beat up or run over by a reindeer. This is a serious issue, but it is being used for political purposes.

The co-sponsors should publicly renounce the bill.
