Some wonder why the GOP-controlled Senate has not already brought SJR K to a vote, given the unpopularity of the health care legislation currently advancing in the U.S. Congress. Although unlikely to garner the two-thirds majority in both houses needed to place it on the ballot, a vote on Michigan's SJR K would force senators on both sides of the aisle to take at least a "proxy" position on the impending federal health care takeover.
