Over 7,000 West Michigan RSVP's in a matter of hours! With a lengthy line of hopefuls seeking tickets to the McCain-Palin Town Hall meeting, yesterday was surely a crazy-busy day for Republican Headquarters across the state. Volunteers stood firm as only two tickets were allotted to each individual.

Unfortunately, Grand Rapids Community College's Ford Fieldhouse only allows seating for roughly 4000 attendees. Tickets were distributed and sold out in a short increment of time. Even this morning, as I was at Kent County Republican Headquarters, one person after another entered optimistically, wishing to get their hands on one of the golden tickets.

The event is scheduled for tomorrow evening (September 17th) with doors opening at 4:30pm. Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin will be holding their renowned Town Hall-styled meeting. With this approach, many in the audience could possibly have the opportunity to ask McCain and Palin questions pertaining to their candidacy.

If you are attending the Straight Talk Town Hall Meeting here is what you need to know:

Where: Grand Rapids Community College's Ford Fieldhouse
    When: September 17th, 2008
    Time: 4:30-10:30pm
Tip: Get there early as parking will be extremely difficult.

I also wanted to pass along information from the McCain Campaign in regards to ticket holders not able to attend and those desiring to attend:

We regret to inform you that there are no tickets remaining at our ticket distribution centers. If you have not already picked up your ticket, we will not be able to get you a ticket but the town hall will be available to watch live online by clicking http://www.johnmccain.com/mccaintv/live.htm .

If you have already picked up your ticket and find you cannot attend, please contact your distribution center or Michigan@JohnMcCain.com so the tickets can be offered to those who did not receive them.

We are grateful for the overwhelming response but sorry we cannot meet the demand. Thank you for your continued support and please stay tuned for information on upcoming events in Michigan.

    Thank You,

    The Great Lakes Regional eCampaign

I believe Chaz is using the phrase "sold out" as a generality.  These tickets, it should be noted, were all free, unlike thousands of tickets to Barack Obama's speech at Invesco Field at Mile High.

I went to a McCain rally prior to the convention and only 200 showed up.  The numbers is good news cause the message is getting around!

And it really irritated me, too.  I scrambled like a madman (likely blowing through at least one red light and/or stop sign) to get over to the KCGOP on my lunch break . . . no dice, all gone already.
