Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

MIGOP chair candidate gave money to Biden

The latest name in the race for chairman of the Michigan Republican Party may be known to insiders as one of the top donors, but few in the trenches will know much about Ron Weiser.

Weiser, a graduate of the University of Michigan in the People's Republic of Ann Arbor, is a longtime businessman. He has been on numerous finance committees for top GOP candidates, and served a stint as ambassador to Slovakia for President George Bush.

Most surprisingly, Weiser gave $1,000 to Sen. Joe Biden's failed Democratic presidential campaign on September 30, 2007. Recall that Biden, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was part of the panel that confirmed Weiser's appointment as ambassador to Slovakia.

Should a candidate for Republican Party chairman be supporting a Democrat?

John McCain, our nominee.  You're not going to tag Weiser a RINO... Biden was a long-shot doing his best to tear into Clinton and Obama at the time.  In fact, he said some pretty nasty (and true) things about both of them during the debates.

I think you could make a pretty strong argument that giving money to Biden makes Weiser MORE qualified to be Chair of the Michigan Republican Party!

Weiser is no RINO (although I'll ask about Biden) (none / 0) (#2)

Biden's a fair question to ask, but I wouldn't call him a RINO. Look at his state contributions. All Republican, including the judges which matter most to me. He backed both moderates and conservatives. On the fed side, one bad one.

The only bad one from a Republican standpoint is Biden. I see much more good ones. McCotter, Santorum, Kasich, Tim Walberg.

I save the term RINO for one who really deserves it - people like Milliken.

It can be very prudent to support those who are against our enemies.

My enemy's enemy is my friend.

Remember how hard Republicans worked to get Nader on the ballot in 2004?  How dare we!  I also think supporting Liebermann in a state that won't vote Republican might be worthwhile.

There are those who carry the "RINO" term too far.  But there should be nothing wrong about using a donation or support of a Democrat as a way to open discussions with a potential party leader.  Use the facts to get context, and then make a judgment.
