    Michigan Republican Primary Prediction

If early exit polling is any guide, I'll take a wild guess and predict:

    Romney: 31%
    McCain: 28%
    Huckabee: 18%

It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that there's still a lot of voting that's happened since the early exit polling was released and still an hour to go.  But the Romney campaign must be feeling pretty good about their chances right now.

If this pans out, the net effect will be McCain's momentum might be stopped in its tracks and the Republican race for the nomination is very much wide open once again.

What will happen in South Carolina & Nevada on Saturday?

Based on current polling, Huckabee (and possibly even Fred Thompson) could prevail in South Carolina.  And it's conceivable Giuliani could finish in a strong 2nd place in Nevada (he might even win there).

Back to Michigan:  Early exit polling indicates a huge percentage of African Americans are voting for "uncommitted" in the Democrat primary today.  Could be a very embarrassing evening for Mrs. Clinton.

That might not be far off... (none / 0) (#1)

If the numbers Shell was reporting earlier are accurate... that there's a 67% uncommitted vote coming out of the minority vote... YIKES!

Press reports seem to indicate that total voting numbers could be under one million.  There were 1.3 million voting in 2000 when there was ONLY a GOP primary and the conventional wisdom is that lower than expected turnout is good for Mittens.

We'll know in about an hour, I suppose.
