A big WELCOME HOME to Mark Schauer and George Cushingberry

Let me be the first to officially say "WELCOME HOME" to our erstwhile Democrat Congressional candidate, The Liar, and his buddy from the Michigan House of Representatives, George "Cush" Cushingberry.

It's really nice of you guys to stop by.  I know you've been out of the country for the last couple of weeks in the midst of the state's fiscal, economic and jobs crisis so I thought I'd just give you both a real quick briefing... sort of a lay of the land.

  • While you were gone nearly four thousand babies were born to Michigan families, so that's exciting.

  • The state government spent about $129,589,041 sent to Lansing by the taxpayers.  Pretty much spent it on what they always spend it on, so nothing really fancy to report there.

  • The state lost about 1,688 jobs... just another day at the office.  Or, well, another day not at the office for a couple thousand more people but you know what I mean.

    Lets see... what else...

  • The Governor left, so, she's not going to be around for the next few days.  But I heard she had a great trip to Sweden and caught up with some long lost relatives.  The post card, no doubt, is in the mail.

Sorry, no, George, I don't have any humus.  I know it's good.  No, no falafel either.  I just don't have any right now.  Ahem... where was I...

  • Banks foreclosed on about 4,960 homes in the eleven days you were away.  But look on the bright side, it's a buyers market!

  • Big news.  Mike Bishop and Andy Dillon reported the other day that they've made significant progress in the FY2008 budget negotiations, so that's pretty awesome!

No, Mark, they don't have an agreement to raise taxes by $2 billion.  I know, I know, you thought they did.  You've said that before.  Wasn't true then, isn't true now.

  • Oh, and don't worry, guys, the House cancelled session last week so you're OK.  You didn't miss any really important votes.

But, uh, George, I'm not sure how to tell you this... you're going to be short a member on Approps for a while.  Turns out Mike Sak just can't hold his ego and his liquor at the same time.  Ask Andy, he'll tell you all about it.

So yeah, welcome home, guys.  Nothing really super fancy or exciting.  It was just another week in Michigan.

More spin, lies and selective memory from you (none / 0) (#1)

You forgot to welcome home Sen.. Ron Jelinek, (R-Three Rivers),
the chair of the do-nothing, obstructionist Senate Appropriations Committee, Rep. Kevin ELSENHEIMER (R-Bellaire) and Rep. Marty KNOLLENBERG (R-Bloomfield Hills).

Now that Jelinek is home perhaps the Senate can pass their first budget bill, or even act on the ones already passed by the House. You think?

I also forgot to mention the other three or four democrats who were on the trip.  COULD be because none of them are involved in the budget process or constantly spouting rhetoric about getting the job done like The Liar and Cush.

    Hey, a backhanded compliment! (none / 0) (#5)

    I'll take it.

At some point, before I die, I'm going to get you to smile.  Just once.
