    The Hainan-Embraer Connection (none / 0) (#6)
by mm9 on Sat Jan 21, 2012 at 01:46:39 PM EST
This establishes literally nothing. The site on your second link states the following connection between Soros and Embraer:
Doing some research it seems George Soros has a connection to Embraer through Harbin-Embraer Aircraft a Chinese-Brazilian joint venture, and Hainan Airlines, which Soros owns a significant stake in.
    Link

The link you describe is one easily found on Wikipedia:

Hainan Airlines announced an order to purchase 50 Embraer ERJ-145s and 50 Embraer 190s with a total value of (at list price) US$ 2.7 billion. Deliveries commenced in September 2007 for the ERJ-145s. The 50-seat ERJ-145s were produced by the joint venture Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry (HEAI), in the city of Harbin. For the Embraer E-190, deliveries started in December 2007. The 106-seater aircraft is configured for single class service and is manufactured at the plant of São José dos Campos, Brazil. Due to the financial crisis and huge loss in the year 2008, the number of orders for the 50 seater ERJ 145 was reduced to 25 from the original of 50; the Embraer 190 order of 50 was not reduced.
Harbin is a state-owned Chinese aerospace manufacturer and Embraer is not owned by Soros. The connection between Soros and these companies is that a privately owned Chinese Airline that Soros has significant investment in bought some planes from Embraer, including one model produced through a collaboration between Embraer and a state-owned Chines company. Soros has no financial stake in this fight.

Meanwhile, your link also includes information that rebuts the criticism of jobs going to Brazilians rather than Americans on this contract:

While losing the contract could lead to job losses in Wichita, Embraer has made a compelling case for U.S. job creation in its bid proposal. The company said it will build the Super Tucanos in Florida in partnership with prime contractor Sierra Nevada, a U.S.-based technology company. The companies say they'll use more than 70 U.S. suppliers and create more than 1,200 U.S. jobs.
The bottom line here is there is no evidence that this is a Soros backed conspiracy. Furthermore, there is little evidence of anything more than a legal dispute between the USAF and GAO, and Hawker Beechcraft. Hawker Beechcraft claims that they were unfairly excluded from bidding on a contract and wasn't given reason for this. The GAO claims that Hawker Beechcraft was excluded due to technical issues and was not given a debriefing or awarded a protest because they missed the respective filing deadlines for both actions. Here are the relevant links for the sake of completeness.

Oh, and why are you calling me Seth? (none / 0) (#7)

I've been wondering that for awhile. I assume it's a reference to something, but I honestly have no idea what.
