    . . . my friend, I recommend that you take the time to read the Notes on the Debates in the Federal Convention, which were compiled by James Madison himself, to see why we are using the Electoral College instead of the other three methods that were proposed.

    When you think you have the answer, then get back with us.  Also, please stay tuned, as one of my projects in the hopper is a detailed defense of the Electoral College (which also will be, by design, a detailed rebuttal of the NPVIC).
