    I wasn't attacking charter schools (none / 0) (#14)
by mm9 on Wed Dec 07, 2011 at 02:45:28 PM EST
When I said that charter schools didn't have to follow all the rules that regular public schools do, I did not mean to suggest that they weren't subject to the same oversight requirements that regular schools do. I meant that they had more autonomy with regards to both running the school efficiently and setting their own curriculum and focuses. I have no problem with this whatsoever, nor do I have any problem with lifting the cap on charter schools.

As for whether or not charter schools should be allowed to be for-profit entities, I have no opinion one way or the other, because I have yet to see data indicating whether for-profit charters produce better results than non-profit charters. I was merely expressing the principle behind the opposition to for-profit charters, in response to maidintheus's question.
