HR-1207 for those who aren't familiar is a bill proposed by Rep. Paul to conduct the very first audit of the federal reserve. Created in 1913, the Fed has NEVER been audited during its entire history.

After the recent Wall Street crash, people became interested in this bill, and it received a significant number of sponsors/co-sponsors that passage was all but certain.

Given that the Fed is responsible for providing the currency to our banking system, this bill should seem like a no-brainer.

After the recently passed Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Bill passed, support for this bill mystery evaporated.

I shouldn't have to remind anyone here on the importance of knowing that our financial system is on stable footing. An audit is the best method to determine that.

The fact that people who were originally clamoring to sign on to this bill, suddenly withhold their support when an actual vote was taken, should be cause for concern.

As I stated earlier, I was originally against the idea of a state bank.

But given the uncertainty of our financial system, along with the recent unexplainable about-face of elected officials in the know, it is prudent to re-examine that premise.
