    Why do conservatives have to be so historically ignorant? You say:

    about the lack of the Pledge and the Motto. The motto dates back to the Civil War and didn't become the official motto until the 1950s. The Pledge was first written by a Socialist in the 1890s and the current version wasn't adopted until the 1950s. The 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence would have no knowledge of either the Motto or the Pledge.
