28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. - Romans 1 (NIV)These Democrats have truly given themselves over to a depraved mind. They are in actuality inventing ways of doing evil, trying to force We the People to pay for outright murder of the innocent under the force of the state. How ghoulish, how evil is it to put a price tag on a baby yet to be born and use that tag to promote killing that child? Snuffing out a life for potential fiscal solvency of a system to take over 1/6th of the US economy even though Congress has no constitutional authority to do so. This account by MI US Rep. Bart Stupak (D) is just sickening. Our country is being run by a kakistocracy. Truly. From the Corner at NRO via memeorandum: `They Just Want This Over' Sitting in an airport, on his way home to Michigan, Rep. Bart Stupak, a pro-life Democrat, is chagrined. "They're ignoring me," he says, in a phone interview with National Review Online. "That's their strategy now. The House Democratic leaders think they have the votes to pass the Senate's health-care bill without us. At this point, there is no doubt that they've been able to peel off one or two of my twelve. And even if they don't have the votes, it's been made clear to us that they won't insert our language on the abortion issue."Stupak points out that unions are putting pressure on him and his pro-life Democrat colleagues. Unions. What happened to the days when unions were about collective bargaining and bennies? What are they doing pushing abortion? Later in the NRO article though, are these very revealing statement about where Democrats really are in their thinking, such as it is: ..."If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That's one of the arguments I've been hearing," Stupak says. "Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue -- come on, we can find room in the budget. This is life we're talking about."More below the fold... (1062 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
Is it possible that 1st congressional district representative Bart Stupak is having a fit of conscience?
A recent CNS news interview reveals Stupak has been told to essentially shut up until the deal is done.
This from just one member of a coalition which found funding of abortion by taxpayers reprehensible, and so much so they held up the house vote until assured it wasn't going to happen. (392 words in story) Full Story By RightMindedGuy, Section News
An Open Letter from my wife:
There have been two times in my life in which I didn't advocate for the best health care available. The first time was when I was pregnant with my daughter living in a rural area and my physician refused to run a routine ultrasound. (518 words in story) Full Story By jenkuz, Section News
"We came to the point where we actually had an agreement tonight, but it fell apart," Stupak said.
Stupak (D-MI) has been making it clear that he would not vote for the healthcare bill if it included federally funded abortion. He and Rep. Ellsworth (D-IN) have introduced an amendment to the bill that:
* Explicitly prevents all federal tax dollars from being used to provide abortions in the public option; But, taking to the floor this afternoon, Stupak signaled that he would indeed vote for the bill, and continued to encourage his Democrat friends to support his amendment. The bottom line is, Stupak sees nothing wrong with the government takeover of healthcare. Hot Air's Ed Morrissey describes the disgusting endorsement by the American Bishops of this monstrosity of a bill. (1 comment, 248 words in story) Full Story By Theblogprof, Section News
You may be thinking - hey! It's not Friday yet! Yes, my post this week on the pro-life issue is a couple of days early simply because of this breaking news. No offense to my co-bloggers that tend to post on Wednesdays. It is not too late for those of you in District 1 to contact Stupak and remind him who voted him into office. So onto the breaking news:
I'm sorry to say that I saw this one coming miles away and months ago. I wrote exactly of this very thing earlier this year. I was tipped off to this video over at The Foundry by several emails today and sure enough, here is Stupak admitting that he will vote for nationalizing the healthcare system including taxpayer funded abortions:
Here's the kicker - the video was made after Stupak banned videotaping his public meetings! More below the fold... (5 comments, 1353 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
