Folks, GREAT NEWS today for those who believe in principled GOP leadership!
Republican Representative Dave Agema, has decided to run for Republican National Committeeman. Agema, a long time Republican, is one of a number of principled Tea Party conservatives in the house. Dave currently represents the 74th state house district. Unfortunately, he is term limited out this election cycle, and has decided to bring true conservative ideals to the committeeman position. He offers a serious alternative to the crony Republican "Dele-Gate" style politics found with the other guy. If we wish to overcome the challenges ahead in the GOP, we need to have trustworthy folks like Dave giving us a voice in the process. We encourage Tea Party Republican delegates to make sure they are involved in the upcoming conventions, and to make sure they are there to see a worthy Republican through to this important 'super delegate' position. More information on how you can help will be provided soon! (16 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Part of the trouble with selecting the right candidates for elective office, is that it seems like those who are electable become too easily swayed by establishment habits, either shortly before or after taking office.
We have talked about candidates we prefer on RightMichigan.com often. And generally the endorsements will be far in between, and few. In fact, personal affirmations of course will be the only way you might see a favorite endorsed for office anyhow. So before we move along too far into the election season, I want to let you know we DO have friends who we can trust to send to Washington. Go below the fold for why. By golly we DO matter!
Trips. Trifecta. Three times the fun last night for Republican contender Rick Santorum as he CRUSHED the competition in MN, MO, and with Fox News beating to death the "beauty contest" meme, CO. Santorum might see some trophies for his wins in those states in the form of a revitalized campaign account and new tires for his pick up. Particularly Mitt. Polling had put Mitt in the lead in CO, and conventional wisdom proved wrong for some counties. The presumed leader having those counties pulling for Mitt 60% against McCain in 2008, give the Mitten State's son a 20% finger. A bad night for Romney, as even "non binding" votes show a trend that should scare the bejeezuz J. Smith out of establishment Romney supporters. He has high negatives. Very high. But Michigan Santorum fans have wins for yet another reason (below the fold)~ (21 comments, 461 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section Multimedia

Grand Traverse County Commission Chair Larry Inman is likely to take on Dan Benishek for the 1st Congressional District of Michigan.
Citing the debt ceiling increase and Benishek's lack of community outreach during his first term, Inman says he and others are "concerned Benishek cannot hold the seat" against the Democrat backed McDowell in November 2012. Inman states he is pro life and is a fiscal conservative on the Vic McCarty radio program today. Inman formerly a banker with Huntington has been on the Grand Traverse County board for 20 years this year. A recent change in the county districts reduced the number of districts from 9 to 7 in the county, resulting in potential contests between sitting commissioners. Jason Gillman, and Larry Inman would have to face off in the August for the newly formed 6th district encompassing Acme Whitewater, and Parts of East Bay Townships. The final decision by Inman is expected some time mid month. (3 comments) Comments >>
