While private enterprise for the most part has been able to hold costs and effects of inflation in check, in many cases through efficiencies and watchful management, government does no such thing.  An infrastructure operation that is run by government hasn't the same incentives, or mechanisms that allow increased costs to be aggregated along side found savings.  The Price will always go up. And the announcement of rate increases over one international bridge?

"The Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority (SSMBA) today reminded International Bridge customers of public hearings next week in Michigan and Ontario to review a proposed toll rate increase.

The proposed increase was prompted by the SSMBA Board of Directors' review on Aug. 15 of its long-range financial plan that details the operational and capital improvement project needs of the bridge for the next 30 years. The proposed toll increase (in U.S. dollars) includes an increase in passenger vehicle tolls from the current $3 per trip to $3.50 per trip on April 1, 2014, and from $3.50 to $4 on April 1, 2019."

And THAT was "family".

In defense of Republicans who have sold out to Obamacare expansion in Michigan, Lt. Guv Brian Calley issued a letter that attempts to re-unify Republicans who have felt the knife of betrayal from Michigan's executive branch and legislature these past two weeks.  The plea to accept Obamacare "as the law of the land" frankly falls on deaf ears, and his words add insult to injury when saying there is a conservative argument for passage.

No  really there is no such thing.

And Jen Kuznicki does a fine job of pointing it out.  She breaks down into sections his screed, and analyzes the mental disconnect that is being argued.  At one point noting his argument of being a conservative:

I have always been a principled conservative voice inside the administration, but when the Governor makes a decision I will support and help implement that decision.

It is telling that although Lt. Governor believes himself to be a principled conservative voice, he uses the word `but', as if he knows it is not a principled position to stand with the Governor on this issue."

Its a sad day when the poison from our own flag bearers can so corrupt the conscious decisions of those who would otherwise be considered conservative to a point where they are no better than those who pass all manner of progressive policy.  Its hurtful to watch grown men insinuate that they HAVE TO back such heresy for the good of the party.

Today is expected to be a day where a vote could take place on HB4714. Today is the day where Republican senators around the state can throw sand in the eyes of those who entrusted them with power in 2010.  The revolution which started in 2010 against the very thing for which they might vote.

The question to ask forever more is "how might someone actually call themselves Republican, or think they wear ANY badge of integrity by voting to grow government and expand dependency on it?" In 1996 Republicans in the US congress showed the executive branch the way by reducing dependency through 'workfare' and inserting SOME personal responsibility.

And because of promises of power, seating arrangements, considerations, contributions, etc, this great state will see a follow up to the destruction brought by a wimpy current congress, and a POTUS who has the destruction of the US as a goal.
