  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Apologies for a late posting on this.

On this Memorial Day, I would like to have a special remembrance for those who died in Benghazi while serving the united states.  Included are armed services Veterans Glen Doherty and Sean Smith.

    • Doherty was a former Navy Seal working for a private security company hired by the US state department to guard the American ambassador Chris Stevens who also perished.
    • Smith was a US air force veteran who worked at American embassies in South Africa, Iraq and Belgium before his posting to Libya.

May their true killers come forward and be judged appropriately.

Our prayers are extended for all in our armed forces who have served, their families, and the brave men who died defending US soil and interests overseas.

    Our thanks and gratitude overflows.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Thursdays Cynosura: Senator Ted Cruz

I could not possibly agree more with Senator Cruz.  And, that's the problem.  The Sea of Red sent in 2010, has lost my trust.  Remember 4/10/2011: "By the way Neil, they're [House Republicans] 100% of the spending bills and taxing authority under the Constitution. They can stop whatever they want to stop."

Bonus: it's good to read that Priebus is backpedaling on his spineless reach across the aisle herd (ya, it's about as politico speak squishy as it gets without full omission of being complicit).  Nonetheless, Ted Cruz forced Reince to put those cards on the table - Cruz, like Reagan ultimately did, Eleventh Commandment be damned!

    High Crimes and Misdemeanors

Though not 'Michigan centric', this is far too important to not have on the front page of every blog. - JG

"This week marks the 40th anniversary of the Watergate hearings.  For those of you too young to remember, back then the administration had an enemies list.  They were spying on reporters, and they used the IRS to harass groups they didn't like.  Thank God those days are gone forever."  (Jay Leno, circa last week)

Jay Leno may yet accomplish with President Obama what Johnny Carson did with President Nixon, in that JWC turned RMN into a national laughingstock, and thus greased the skids for Tricky Dick's premature exit from the White House.  We can only hope that JDL can accomplish the same with BHO before February 2014 rolls around.

Four scandals, count them, four.  Benghazi, the IRS's thuggish behavior, the DOJ wiretapping the AP, and the EPA's selective fee waivers.  Those are just the ones that are currently "front-page news."  There're plenty of others from the earlier years of this Administration (Operation Fast & Furious comes to mind), and there are likely others not yet brought to light.  Solomon had it absolutely right when he said that there is nothing new under the sun.

The more I hear or read about what's going on, the more I find myself in agreement with Speaker Boehner:  I'm not interested in who's losing their job over this; I want to know who's going to jail over this.

The critical need for a Select Committee on Benghazi *Action Item*

I don't know about you, but I kind of resent that I have to repeatedly beg a few men in a far off city to do the right thing.

Representative Frank Wolf has 146 Co-Sponsors to House Resolution 36, which calls for a Select Committee to investigate the attack on Benghazi.

According to The Hill, while many of the members of the committees that oversee this issue have signed on to HR 36, the chairmen of those committees and Speaker Boehner stand against a select committee.

    The Chairmen in question are:

Chairman of the Intelligence Committee: Mike Rogers R-MI
Chairman of the Judiciary Committee: Bob Goodlatte R-VA
Chairman of Oversight and Government Reform: Darrell Issa R-CA
Chairman of Armed Services: Howard "Buck" McKeon R-CA
Chairman of Foreign Affairs: Ed Royce R-CA

Tuesday Divertere - Pirro Sums It Up

Generally the front page won't see too much of the national news that has no Michigan ties.

However, Judge Jeanine Pirro in this clip puts the most appropriate perspective on the Benghazi affair that I have seen.  There are a lot of questions that need to be answered, and I'll stop short of total agreement with, or assigning motives to the administrations lack of action and its subsequent cover ups, but I recognize incompetence when I see it.  Only the most shallow butt kissing sycophant could not recognize this administration is in way over its head.

    Well done Judge.

This is the jackboot that is the Democratic Party, and the Obama administration.

Impossible not to notice that at Romney rallies the crowds merely chant USA!, USA!, USA!

With the DNC Left, it's four more years, and a perverse satisfaction of a police state.
