    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

In an April 25, 2011 email, the head of the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association advised state employees to delete emails pertaining to a potential recommendation that Michigan's noise level limit for wind turbines be lowered.

Written 14 months ago, the context of the email was what appears to have been a successful effort by government bureaucrats to derail a pending noise level reduction recommendation. The email advising state employees delete conversations was one of several emails obtained through the Freedom of Information Act pertaining to the wind turbine noise level issue.

"I would delete these types of emails because of the possibility of FOIA requests," John Sarver wrote in the email.

Sarver is now the executive director of the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (GLREA), which is a statewide non-profit that promotes and facilitates the use of renewable energy in Michigan. Most, if not all, of the renewable energy sources GLREA supports require government subsidies, mandates or both for their survival.

Challenge For Rep Brown and Democrat Vajayjays Everywhere

Rep Lisa Brown (D-bag), would you care to take the lead of Justice Diane Hathaway into the stirrups for thorough examination?

    via The Detroit News

Commentary: Hathaway land deal merits investigation

Maybe it's too cut and dried. Or perhaps it isn't very sexy. For whatever reason, it appears there is no confirmed, official, criminal investigation into whether Michigan Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway committed fraud by hiding assets in order to get a short sale on a home she owned.

It supposedly went something like this: Hathaway, elected to the state's highest court in 2008, owned several homes, including one in Florida that WXYZ-TV Channel 7 described as a mini-mansion that sits on a golf course.

Hathaway bought the home in question, at 15834 Lakeview in Grosse Pointe, on Sept. 21, 2001, for $1.475 million. On Oct. 10, 2010, she listed the home for sale for $1.2 million. On May 2, 2011, she listed the home subject to a short sale, and on Nov. 8, 2011, the home was approved for a short sale for $840,000.

Presumably, the short sale saved Hathaway from a few hundred thousand in mortgage payments. A short sale is a sale in which lender(s) will accept less than the amount owed on the home in order to sell it. Normally, short sales occur because something dreadful happened, e.g., debilitating illness, job loss, etc., and the debtor cannot make his or her payments, and everyone wants to avoid foreclosure.

Stabenow and Levin Confirm Another Lifetime Radical

    via Judicial Watch

This week marks a great opportunity to eliminate yet another of President Obama's liberal activist candidates from getting a lifetime federal judgeship, in this case on the notoriously liberal--and often overturned--9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

In November the commander-in-chief nominated pro-abortion radical Andrew Hurwitz to fill a vacancy on the San-Francisco-based appellate court. In late January Hurwitz appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee and his nomination was reported to the full Senate in March. He must be confirmed by the full Senate, which gives lawmakers a great opportunity to keep another liberal activist away from the federal bench.

Hurwitz currently sits on the Arizona Supreme Court. He got that job in 2003 thanks to then Governor Janet Napolitano, now Obama's Secretary of Homeland Security. In a letter asking senators to vote against Hurwitz, a Texas congressman (the House doesn't participate in the process) points out the following; Hurwitz played a key role authoring two 1972 decisions which are clearly reflected and expanded upon in the Supreme Court's infamous abortion ruling on Roe. v. Wade.

    Rest here

Naturally, the usual RINO cast of Brown (R-MA), Collins (R-ME), Kyl (R-AZ), McCain (R-AZ), Murkowski (R-AK), and Snowe (R-ME) chalk up another assist for the DNC agenda.

    Senate vote: 60-31-9
