AFP Michigan says: Michigan legislature "refused to drive the get-away car"

Indeed. And their sense of whats right should be noted!

    From their release:

AFP-MI Applauds Michigan Senate for Refusing to "Partner" with Feds on Washington Health Care Takeover

LANSING, Mich.--The grassroots free-market group Americans for Prosperity-Michigan called the State Senate's refusal to establish a partnership health care exchange, a resounding victory for anyone who opposes President Obama's health care law. Michigan joins 25 other states that have refused to help set up an exchange.

"President Obama has robbed patients, businesses, and taxpayers of their economic freedom--our legislators just refused to drive the get-away car," said Scott Hagerstrom, state director of Americans for Prosperity-Michigan. "This is a resounding victory for anyone who opposes the Washington health care takeover, and a true testament to the power of grassroots activism. It should also serve as a wake-up call to Republican governors that members of their party will not rubber stamp implementation of the president's health care takeover.

AFP-Michigan has been at the forefront of the battle against any state involvement in establishing a health care exchange, most recently opposing the supplemental appropriation necessary to set up a so-called partnership exchange. The group's activities have included distributing key vote alerts to legislators urging rejection of an exchange, sending electronic action alerts to its 87,000-plus activists across Michigan, broadcasting alerts on its social media channels, and directing hundreds of constituent calls into House and Senate offices.

"Our leaders in the Michigan Senate listened to their constituents, and wisely chose to avoid being complicit in the federal government's hostile takeover of our health care marketplace," said Hagerstrom. "Michigan should not be in the business of giving even the slightest whiff of legitimacy to misguided federal policies that rob us of our economic freedom."

Hagerstrom noted the group will now turn its attention to thanking legislators for standing tall on the issue, and will also work to oppose the Medicaid expansion and gas tax hikes.

It is a good thing the exchange didn't go through but the Senate isn't a group worthy of praise from top to bottom.

If they were truly courageous they would have put it up for a vote and voted it down. Instead, they didn't put it up for a vote... to save face.

How? Well, there were a few members that voted FOR Obamacare related legislation during non-election years and now were forced to choose: become flip-floppers or continue to vote for bad legislation.

The liberty movement has not made strides on "correct votes" but instead the exact opposite. It has made strides by taking principled stances even in the face of procedural difficulties. (See Amash).

I would look specifically at state Senators that voted for Obamacare last term that spoke out against it this term. Much different tunes during election sessions.

I get what your gripe is, Mr. Marten.  There's a lot of deal brokering ne'er do-wells on Team R in the state Senate.  Rightfully so, a good many of them in another time when we were a freer people they would be tarred, feathered, and ran out of town on a rail.  Frankly, it is my opinion that is where the average citizens f*cked up with gifting lawyers, and politicos too broad a reach in their authority.

However, the idea of bringing forth the vote "to save face," I take issue in said concept.  I have watched how The Great Paul v2.0 (All hail PaulTard) openly suckle Obamessiah phallus with grandstanding No Votes become votes For Jane Kerry-Fonda, and as retrograde logic excuse for face-saving aspirations of The Great Paul v2.0 (All hail PaulTard) rolling over for the Hagel smears a Bagel whims of the Obamessiah administration's lust for Caliphate building.

So, no Mr. Marten.  Ferret out the ne'er do-wells.  Thank your lucky stars the "appeasing the administration" vote never saw the light of day, and remain vigilant that Richardville, does not slide it up for a vote in the future as that is a possibility.  But for today, I gladly will lay praise upon those who stood with a courageous, Senator Mike Green.

    Thank you, Sen. Green!

The stealth Democrat self-invented Nerd persona gifting Lon a crack at keeping an open Senate seat along with opportunity for governor if a fiscal conservative Democrat runs (I know. There isn't such a thing, but no elected seat is safe), and the dinosaur news media outlets sure as Hell won't say thanks.
