LANSING, MICH., April 10, 2012 - Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak issued the following statement, regarding Senator Rick Santorum's decision to suspend his campaign for president:

"The Michigan Republican Party applauds Rick Santorum for running a strong race, here in Michigan and nationally. Our focus remains on defeating President Obama and his reckless policies of more debt, more spending and higher unemployment. Obama's failed policies have resulted in Michigan being extremely competitive, as evident by the most recent poll which has Obama leading the closest Republican rival by the margin of error. Michigan's Republican-led turnaround demonstrates the powerful effects of pro-worker, pro-job creator, and common sense policies. We look forward to contrasting Michigan's Republican-led turnaround with President Obama's horrendous record."
