Michigan Congressmen Fred Upton and Dave Camp have been named by Speaker John Boehner to the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction, which has been nicknamed the "SuperCongress".  The third Republican House member is Jeb Hensarling of Texas.

Republicans Fill Out Deficit Committee Roster

Their American Conservative Union (ACU) ratings are as follows.
    Upton 73%
    Camp 89%
    Hensarling 99%

Upton is a well-known moderate with a long history of un-conservative votes.  He has voted more conservative since surviving a strong Tea Party challenge in 2010.  (His 2010 rating was 92%).  Camp is an establishment Republican.  Hensarling is a staunch conservative who previously headed the Republican Study Committee before being elected to house leadership.

On the senate side, the Republicans are
    John Kyl 96%
    Pat Toomey 97% (house)
    Rob Portman 89% (house)

Kyl is in the leadership and is retiring.  Toomey is a Tea Party favorite elected in 2010, while Portman is an establishment candidate elected in 2010.

Well.. We could look at it in two ways (none / 0) (#1)

This is an opportunity for Camp and Upton to redeem themselves,

OR prove they will NEVER get it.

In a way, this is a win-win for conservatives, and those who are looking at replacing the RINO faction in 2012.

If they somehow fix what they screwed up with the debt ceiling vote, then they become heroes.

OK.  Fine, though it still is tough seeing how complicated it all had to become.

Or they continue to fail so miserably, that a primary challenge becomes fait accompli.

Either way fixed, or bad guys gone, THEN the fix.

    Boehner? Camp? Upton? (none / 0) (#2)

With those three names only two words come to mind:  We're f#@%ed.

One more thing... the TEA Partiers had best open their eyes.  Assclowns like Captain TARP Hoekstra are TEA Party infiltrators too.

Conservatives are urging their grass-roots colleagues to mute their criticisms of House Speaker John Boehner and the GOP leadership, and to get behind their efforts to address out-of-control spending in Washington.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax on Thursday, former GOP Rep. Pete Hoekstra said the tea-party faithful need to give Boehner "a little bit of breathing room."

Democrats and Republicans are preparing to burn the midnight oil Thursday if needed, in order to work out a deal on a continuing resolution that would fund the government and avoid a shutdown.

As Hoekstra's comments suggest, many commentators now believe the continual sniping at GOP leaders from within the grass-roots movement is no longer helping conservatives attain their overall objectives.

Oh, blow it out your ass Pete.

Maybe if Boehner pulled his head out of his ass he could breath.

Upton and Camp????  Can anyone say Hop, Skip and Jump across the aisle to suck face with the morons in the Democrap kumbay-I love in?  That is exactly what they are going to do.  I agree Scales - we are F*&%ed!!!

Boehner gets it!  The deal was simply the best he could manage given the fact that he controls but one small, intsy teensy bit of one smaller, intsy teensy bit of government.

Yep, Fred Upton was the best we could expect.
