The correct answer to this latest sad chapter in what passes for a city (of Detroit), is the last weed-choked, life-after-people image. And wouldn't you know it, it belongs to none other that local embarrassment, US Representative John Conyers (H/T to Fox 2 Detroit for doing an excellent job outing this...again).

Yes, the same John Conyers who owns a overgrown weed-choked, paint peeling, dilapidated home in Palmer Park (until that one was outted just last week), also owns property on the Eastside.

And how did the good congressman react to this story?

Great job, Congressman! Blowing off reporters exposing your latest contribution to the ruins of Detroit. Where did you pick up that attitude from? Sheila Jackson Lee?

There's one more thing that I haven't mentioned yet, Cong. Conyers owes back taxes on this slum to the tune of $592.55. It's a darn good thing Detroit isn't facing any budget troubles. I'd just be totally devastated if a democrat of his stature were partially responsible.

For someone who is no stranger to scandal, from his using his taxpayer paid staffers to run personal errands and do campaign work, to using his office to help to obtain a visa for an aide convicted of fraud to escape to Ghana, sending his kids to a very good private school in the `burbs while simultaneously opposing school vouchers (what was your take on vouchers again, Congressman? Oh yeah, gotta protect DPS), letting his kid not only take his taxpayer provided car for a spin (until he racked it up)...what a shame about those stolen computers and concert tickets, to looking at porn in public (I highly doubt he's reading the "articles"), you would think that keeping up your property would be on a very short no-brainer list.

But doing the job he gets paid to do, like reading the bills he votes on? Please!

For the sake of space, I'm not even going to mention what his shameful excuse of a wife has done. Let's just say that she's cooling her heels in Club Fed for bribery and leave it at that.

One important note: ALL of these homes pictured above are located inside of Detroit. There was absolutely no trouble in locating them. Conyers' defenders will shout to High Heaven that, "This ain't his house!" Sorry, but that dog won't hunt. Unless the good representative got a quickie divorce (highly unlikely), it doesn't explain today's activities. {see addemdum below}

Yeah, yeah, I know. Just another day in paradise.

And as long as enough people don't begin to take notice and take a stand, stories like this will just continue.
