Eliminating the threat of losing a serious revenue stream, the city will now collect $90 million in income and utility taxes under two bills signed into law today by Gov. Rick Snyder. Great photo-op, eh? I can almost hear Granholm saying, "We're all in this together."
Bing thanked the governor for his part in shepherding the legislation through and "of building a true partnership between Lansing and the city of Detroit." Huh? Since when in the last forty years didn't Lansing prop up the City of Detroit? Good Lord! Even Treasurer Dillon is working up an extra $10M injection of money for you so don't be jonesing, you'll get your fix. C'mon let's get to what all this flapdooddle is really about...

Both Bing and Snyder said this move also helps keep away talk of the governor looking to place an emergency manager to take over the city. Hmmm, Governor Snyder must think even his EFMs are "too divisive" for the City of Detroit. Either that, or the MI-GOPs solutions to government problems is just throwing more money at it.
