The more things change the more they stay the same. Michigan's latest reinvention.

Eliminating the threat of losing a serious revenue stream, the city will now collect $90 million in income and utility taxes under two bills signed into law today by Gov. Rick Snyder.
Flanked by Mayor Dave Bing, Snyder approved the bills that "are critically important for the financial success of the city."

Great photo-op, eh? I can almost hear Granholm saying, "We're all in this together."

Bing thanked the governor for his part in shepherding the legislation through and "of building a true partnership between Lansing and the city of Detroit."

Huh? Since when in the last forty years didn't Lansing prop up the City of Detroit? Good Lord! Even Treasurer Dillon is working up an extra $10M injection of money for you so don't be jonesing, you'll get your fix. C'mon let's get to what all this flapdooddle is really about...

Both Bing and Snyder said this move also helps keep away talk of the governor looking to place an emergency manager to take over the city.

Hmmm, Governor Snyder must think even his EFMs are "too divisive" for the City of Detroit. Either that, or the MI-GOPs solutions to government problems is just throwing more money at it. Yannow, that reminds me of how a Democrat solves problems.

Well, boy's and girl's of the House and Senate, you're proud owners of yet another tax hike on Michigan citizens.

Kudos to whomever came up with that headline at The Detroit News.

I'd love to hear the MI-GOP apologists explain why supporting those stink-bomb bills make them any different from democrats!

urban talk radio Detroit during the campaign on the Mildred Gaddis program mornings 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. If you have white skin, it is made clear that you are the cause of all evil on that program. The program streams on line.

It really wasn't all that surprising that Gaddis was at least respectful and non-confrontational upon the occasions when I got to listen to him on her program. He never seemed to make any firm committments, but he gave the "we're all in this together and blah, blah, blah talk" a lot. Build the bridge with union labor, etc. Interestingly enough, her regular cadre of caucasian hating africanhyphenamerican flame thrower callers didn't sing the "it bes all de white man's fault blues" in response to his appearances. Admittedly I was unable to hear them all, but I heard all or part of a few of them.

I think the point about avoiding the EFMs made above was spot on.

Talks like a Commie Lib Progressive and it walks like a Commie Lib Progressive and it signs stupid ass tax and spend legislation like a Commie Lib Progressive it....well you know.
Why so surprised? It was no secret what the Turd really was and believes. I seem to remember somebody referring to the coming Snyder regime as Granholm 2.0. And I was admonished for it here. Guess I was more right then some would care to admit. He has to go and go soon. NO MORE OPEN PRIMARIES.
The best thing to do with Detoilet is to find the handle and flush it.
