Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

    NPV Whackjobs Still At It.

The price of liberty as has been said, is "eternal vigilance."

Never turn your back on the enemy.  Especially if the end result of all their efforts is to relieve you of your part in the decision making process.  The electoral college, as well as the establishment of the Senate was designed to protect state's interests in the face of ever wavering "POPULAR OPINION".  The masses as we see all too often with reactionary effect respond to media driven impulses.

And media as we have known it can no longer be trusted.

It has become heavily manipulated by leftists with wads of cash. Like JON SOROS (George Soro's Son):

"The Constitution is no longer in line with our expectations regarding the role of the people in selecting the president.  ... Under the proposed National Popular Vote compact, state legislatures would agree to choose electors who promise to support the winner of the nationwide popular vote."

Which would have meant Al Gore in 2000.

Soros has bankrolled the NPV movement, and we have Republicans in this state who actually think its a good idea.

    That AlGore should have won?

Let that sink in, and go below.

Recently in Lansing, hearings were held on this issue. (Nov 1)

Pete Lund chairs the Redistricting and Elections committee.  If NPV will be even considered in Michigan, it must come out of this committee. There is a big push right now to re-inject it back into the process and get the compact between Michigan and other states started.  To get NPV passed.  Testimony can be found at Lund's committee page. (go to the bottom and scroll through.)

    Members of the committee are:

Peter J. Lund (R), Committee Chair, 36th District
    Ed McBroom (R), Majority Vice-Chair, 108th District
    Martin Knollenberg (R), 41st District
    Paul Scott (R), 51st District
    Sharon Tyler (R), 78th District
    Rick Outman (R), 70th District
    Barb Byrum (D), Minority Vice-Chair, 67th District
    David E. Nathan (D), 11th District
    Woodrow Stanley (D), 34th District

Despite overwhelming opposition to NPVC including a Resolution from the Michigan State GOP Committee, "strongly encouraging all state legislators and the governor to reject the National Popular Vote Compact, and Eric Doster, general counsel for the Michigan Republican Party, railing against the National Popular Vote idea in committee, Republican House Representative Matt Lori, intends to introduce the NPVC bill in Michigan.

Prescription cold medicine yesterday, NPV today.  Ever wonder why we come up with the term RINO?

State Rep. Matt Lori is sponsoring district coffee hours to give residents a convenient opportunity to meet with him locally on Friday, Nov. 11 at the following times and locations:

    8 - 9 a.m. LA's Coffee Cafe  145 W. Michigan Ave., Three Rivers

9:30-10:30 a.m.  Farmhouse Bakery and Restaurant 59573 White Temple Road, Vandalia

No appointment is necessary. All are welcome to hear a legislative update and discuss topics of interest. "This is a convenient way for residents of the district to meet with me and tell me what is important to them," according to Lori. "It's an informal discussion and helps me better represent the people in the House of Representatives."

    OK.

To those in the 59th.  Please tell Rep. Lori the people of the 59th District desire that he seriously reconsider introducing a NPVC bill. NPVC is not in the best interest of the people of the 59th District, the citizens of Michigan nor our Republic.

The rest of us need to e-mail Rep. Lori and urge him to rethink his position of introducing a NPVC bill when clearly there is so much Michigan opposition to it including that of his own Party.

Contact his Lansing office toll free at 1-877-262-5959 or by e-mail at mattlori@house.mi.gov

The NPV progressive agenda needs to be stopped.

    Kill it now.

That flyover country has no say in national elections ever again.

68% of GOP Voters in MI Support NPV (none / 0) (#3)
by kohler on Thu Nov 03, 2011 at 07:19:06 PM EST
    Asked:
How do you think we should elect the
President: should it be the candidate who gets
the most votes in all 50 states, or the current
    electoral college system?

A survey of 800 Michigan voters conducted on December 2-3, 2008 showed 73% overall support for a national popular vote for President.

Support was 73% among independents, 78% among Democrats, and 68% among Republicans.

By age, support was 77% among 18-29 year olds, 67% among 30-45 year olds, 74% among 46-65 year olds, and 75% for those older than 65.

By gender, support was 86% among women and 59% among men.

    Horrible idea (none / 0) (#16)
by Republican Michigander on Sat Nov 05, 2011 at 12:22:22 AM EST
I like Saul and consider him a friend. However this is a real bad idea.

    1. Don't monkey with the system unless it is a must. It's not needed here. How often is the popular vote relatively close? Often. How often does the person who loses the popular vote win? Rarely. Three times I believe. Hayes, Adams, and Bush the first time. That's it.

    2. This gives urban areas much more power. It doesn't help rural populations.

    3. Vote fraud. Chicago and Milwaukee affects the country instead of Illinois and Wisconsin.

    4. Recounts. How will recounts be conducted under this. Instead of being confined to one state, it could go to hundreds of cities in fifty different states with fifty different rules under the NPV. It potentially creates a giant clustermuck with a capital "F".

    5. Election rules. This will quasi-nationalize elections. Michigan is in the process of cleaning things up with elections with ID laws and such. If Ruth Johnson's reforms pass, what will happen nationally with the NPV? It's a quasi national system and will lead to quasi national election rules across the country. If this goes national, what happens with this? Are we going to be forced by SCOTUS to honor other state election laws in our own state with our own elections, and be forced to toss our election laws? While I can't prove it, I think Michigan that Michigan was stolen in 2004. I also know a high level republican who is IMO the most knowledgeable person in the state on elections issues. I won't name him, but he thinks Freeman Hendrix was the actual winner for Detroit mayor over Kwame. Now, from what I have heard -  Detroit since Janice Winfrey took office is actually doing much better with vote fraud issues and cleaning things up some. Detroit's been better.

We're starting to get on the right track here. I'm concerned that NPV will blow it. I don't need Sh!tcago affecting national elections even more than it already does.

NPV and the Battle for Michigan

    A few questions . . . (none / 0) (#33)
by Kevin Rex Heine on Tue Nov 08, 2011 at 09:48:14 AM EST
. . . for NPV supporters (including our resident troll), when they're willing to engage in an intelligent conversation:

    1. Do you know that the man behind NPV, John Koza, was an Al Gore elector in 2000 and is a major donor to far-left candidates and causes? Do you know that Koza has pledged at least $12 million to this effort and that he admitted to the New York Times that NPV is an "end run" around the Constitution?

    2. NPV lobbyists claim that we've had four "wrong winner" elections. Do you believe that? Do you know the history of those four elections, including how the Electoral College stymied racist vote suppression in 1876 and blunted radical regionalism in 1888? If not, do you think perhaps you haven't really studied this enough to try to match wits with James Madison?

    3. How do you feel about the far left paying former Republicans to lobby for an item that is part of the far left's political agenda?

    4. Do you think NPV makes it more or less likely that the left succeeds in advancing their agenda to nationalize all election administration and further erode federalism?

    5. Why do you think most of the actual support for NPV comes from the political left?

    6. Do you realize that under NPV, every state would have to take every other state's word for it as to their election totals, with no oversight and no legal redress for election fraud?

    Just asking.
