Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

Well, what if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today.

Yep, a mere 10 months into the Snyder administration and we're all living Bill Murray's role in Groundhog Day.

Michigan would fundamentally alter the way it raises money to pay for repairs to the state's roads and bridges under a sweeping proposal expected to be unveiled today by Gov. Rick Snyder.

He's expected to suggest getting rid of the 19-cent gas tax motorists pay at the pump in favor of a tax on the wholesale price of fuel -- a move expected to bring in more funds to fix roads and bridges as inflation pushes up the price of gasoline and diesel fuel.

Also as part of his plan, the governor will ask the Legislature to allow counties and regional authorities to levy a vehicle registration fee to raise money for local road projects, sources close to the governor confirmed. The local levy would have to be approved by voters.

OK, we've had Granholms' re-badged boondoggle bridge, and now it's Granholms' gas tax and registration fee scheme from 2008.  As it stands, Michigan's gas tax is 6th highest in the nation, and our 6% sales tax on fuel does not even go to road funding.  That's right folks, that 6% goes to the general fund and schools. We want the same type of taxation on the variable wholesale price?  I shudder to think of the collateral cost increases on us.  Oh! and then throw the new registration fees on top of that.

Is this what "Reinventing Michigan" looks like?

Well, what defeated the Granholm DRIC worked with defeating the Snyder NITC.  So, to spare my fingers added wear, I'm turning this latest Snyder tax hike conversation over to the very well covered resources at Republican Michigander, starting here and here, and can be thoroughly reviewed here.

November 4, 2014 cannot come fast enough for me.
