Chrysler Workers Thankful For The Bailout

As families in Michigan struggle to make ends meet without a taxpayer funded bailout, Chrysler union employees at a Detroit area plant show their appreciation by celebrating their taxpayer funded windfall.

Any wagers on what will happen to them?

...Fox News just reported on it a few minutes ago.

As for the drunks/stoners from Jefferson, it was already reported that the ones identified were suspended w/o pay. They are working on i.d'ing the rest.

The UAW issued a fluff response to this matter, but I fully expect them to fight Chrysler tooth and nail to not only get their jobs back, but with back pay as well.

at the Freep and News are giving locations of other plants where this is the norm.  Which we have all known for years.  The union has protected these guys for years.  No they won't lose their jobs.  Slap on the wrist and back to boozin it up on the lunch hours.

These are the same "working" men and women that Virg Bernero speaks so highly of and is going to fight for in Michigan.

Oh, this isn't just limited to Michigan. (none / 0) (#3)

I've been at auto plants where the dock workers were having 2-hour, 40-oz con-fabs, while I was waiting.

Their exact comments to me during that time cannot be repeated here (that whole family forum-type thing).

It's not just a Michigan Thing.

I worked as summer help at a UAW facility back in my college days. It was yard work, and they had to bring us college kids in because they couldn't get the UAW workers to do the "difficult" tasks like cut the grass or weed whip with any sort of regularity.

Anyway, the majority of the employees would have a few beers at the local watering hole at lunch -- that was standard operating procedure. But there was one winner who would drive around the facility and deal coke to employees during his shift.

The point of all this is...why has it taken this long for a story like this to get out in the local media?!?  This has been the regualr day-to-day routine for YEARS!

this made it to the national media.  Living in the belly of the beast we all knew this was happening on a regular basis.  Now perhaps the yokels that vote for these libs that support the unions and this behaviour will have their eyes opened.

Please remember that our tax dollars are gone and will never be seen again.

The rough breakdown for the "New Chrysler" LLC is majority UAW owned at 70%.
Marchionne at Fix It Again Tony S.p.A. has 20%
Jug Hussein Ears holds about 9.5%
Canadian gummint has the remaining 2.5%

As for the union lackeys.  Wow... they leave for lunch on time, then on their own time have a few suds and returned to work on time.  It looks like the UAW has made vast improvements from what I recall in Dearborn.  BTW, salary wasn't any better than hourly.

As for the hack at FOX2 holding up the indentured to Obungler crap while showing the homeys blowing some weed... I betchya it'd be another time he voted present.

"...they should be pushing back. These companies must begin to take a serious stand for freeing themselves of tyranny. Why they don't have a choice now is because they made deals in the beginning. They sold out...and together with the unions, they made out."

I really don't see how you can fault Ford - and to a lesser extent GM and Chrysler - for labor laws that were enacted during the Roosevelt administration.

Simply put, Alan Mulally is working with the hand he was dealt and making decisions that are best for the company and it's shareholders. Mulally and Co. would love for nothing more than to be rid of the UAW tomorrow, but they realize that's a battle that would likely bankrupt the company. Expecting a CEO to take up an ideological fight that would drag the company through the mud and potentially bankrupt it is ludicrous. No sane business executive is going to take up that fight.

You're going to tie questionable donations made by a foundation that shares nothing with Ford Motor Co other than a first name to....what exactly? That Alan Mulally is a communist?

    Chrysler canned these drunks/stoners yesterday.

13 of them were terminated. 2 of them were given a one month layoff w/o pay.

Anyone want to bet how long it will take the UAW to fight to get them them rehired?
