A new video release from the Michigan Republican Party asks a question that we all should have an answer to. With the statewide primaries just under a week away, what are you doing to help fix Michigan?
Chairman Ron Weiser and the MIGOP staff offer us ten things we can do this election year to lend our individual efforts to the larger push to put and end to the Socialist-Democrat policies of the Granholm Administration and return our beloved state to the economic giant she was back when we had responsible leadership in Lansing:
Recruit ten friends as Republican volunteers. Have them sign up on the Michigan Republican Party website. Updated information regarding events and volunteer opportunities will be available there.
Become a fan of MIGOP on FaceBook. Recruit at least ten of your friends to become fans as well. This page is updated daily by the MIGOP communications staff, and is a great way to stay in touch with conservative minds statewide.
Door-to-door canvassing. This is especially vital for those of you who are running as precinct delegates. Get to know your neighbors. The Fix Michigan Centers can provide you with walk-lists so that you can go around your neighborhood and identify known and potential Republican voters.
Volunteer to phone bank. As I mentioned in another essay, this work is critical to developing the necessary information that is critical to winning elections . . . and we really need to win this one. This can be done at any of the Fix Michigan Centers, some County Headquarters, or even from the convenience of your own home. (All you need to do this from home is a phone, a computer, and an Internet connection.)
Plant ten yard signs in your precinct (in a yard that isn't yours). True, yard signs don't vote, but they do provide candidates with critical name recognition in the run-up to Primary Day and Election Day.
Volunteer on Election Day (or even on Primary Day). Get-out-the-vote and poll-watching efforts always seem to be under-manned, but they are so very crucial to a successful election effort. County Party Headquarters offices should have information on what you can do and how you can get involved.
Recruit at least one other person to take part in the Ten in '10 program. Many hands make for light work, and for this election we need all hands on deck.
If you qualify, then vote absentee. Granted, we all rightly should frown on no-reason absentee voting. But if you do legitimately qualify (and have made up your mind on how you'll be voting), then why not? You get to vote from the privacy of your own kitchen table, and MIGOP gets the security of knowing that Republican votes are being cast early. Check with the Michigan Secretary of State - or your local County Clerk - for details.
Attend local Republican events. These could be anything from local rallies, College Republican meetings, or county party meetings, to meetings of other like-minded groups (such as the Michigan Tea Party Alliance). This builds visible support for Republican candidates, and encourages Republican-leaning Independent voters to vote Republican.
Register at least two more voters in your precinct . . . and recruit them to vote Republican. Many people are tired of the empty promises of the Democrat Party, but don't know what to do about it. If you're not voting, then you have no business complaining. Growing the base increases Republican voter turnout, and makes it easier to fix Michigan
Together we can get this done. So I'll ask again: With the statewide primaries just under a week away, what are YOU doing to help fix Michigan?
