Businessman and Writer Matthew McCormick announced his candidacy in early may for the Michigan House of Representatives. McCormick is running for the 23rd District seat that includes: Huron Township, Sumpter Township, Woodhaven, Flat Rock, Rockwood, Brownstown, Gibraltar and Grosse Ile.
"It is a way for me to serve. It is only by the power of the vote and the exercise of the freedom of speech that voters and taxpayers can hold politicians to account for their actions. I want to serve the people of this area by listening to them and implementing their ideas. A majority of the citizens in this area are tired of being ignored." There is more..
McCormick owns a management consulting firm and is a distributor of lubricants and maintenance supplies to industry. He is the father of one child, Zachary, and is married to his wife of 15 years, Stamatoula. They reside in New Boston. Mr. McCormick who has written two books, also works as a speaker and a business coach and has helped small and large businesses in Michigan since 1990.
"I've lived in Michigan my whole life. My dad and his dad and my great-grandparents all worked for GM and were proud union members. The legacy of hard work and an independent spirit makes Downriver great." He continues.. "I'm ready to work my rear end off to make this district attractive to business. Our current legislators obviously don't understand what it takes for the private sector to succeed and create jobs." Matt is running as a conservative in Michigan in a year that boasts the greatest number of challenges to Democrat rule EVER. Note that he makes the point that the PRIVATE sector is the one that creates jobs. - Good Luck Matt!
