New Detroit Free Press business model: shill for liberal smear ads towards Mike Cox

What do you call a radio ad that tries to tie a conservative gubernatorial candidate to a felon liberal Democrat Detroit ex-Mayor by pointing to a story of a party more than 7 years ago that was never shown to have existed? If you're the Detroit Free Press, you call it FRONT PAGE NEWS! Not only did the Detroit Free Press - still hemorrhaging readership - report on the short ad that includes zero substance, but they embedded the audio as well:

With campaign contributions like that from the freep, do Democrats (or other Cox opponents) have to actually raise money and campaign in 2010? For the record, here's the ad (see if you can put together two grains of substance from it):

And from the freep, their front-paged all-important article: Ad targets Cox in Manoogian probe
A radio attack ad targeting Attorney General Mike Cox for his role in the investigation of the alleged stripper party at the Manoogian Mansion was launched this morning in several markets across Michigan by a shadowy nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C.
So shadowy that Dawson Bell of the freep thought it important to embed the audio. The Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America which has run ads for liberal RINO candidate John McCain:

Which begs the question: is this ad coming from Democrats or from the Rick Snyder camp? I only mention Snyder because, as per prior posts of mine, his advisers (John Weaver and John Yob) were McCain advisers. The ad is scheduled to run for one week on Lansing's WJIM-AM (1240). Then again, liberal Democrats have a Pavlovian response to Cox and Manoogian being mentioned in the same breath. In fact, I was on Tim Skubick's "Off the Record" a couple of weeks ago (theblogprof  on "Off The Record" with Tim Skubick, April 9, 2010) and this very topic came up. Click on the link for the video podcast. The two Democrats on the panel insisted, with visible drool on the side of their lips, that there was a link. Except after 7 years, there is still no there there. Of course, the Democrats want this in the news to obfuscate the fact that under Democrat 'leadership,' a term I use loosely here, Michigan is on pace to lose more than 1,000,000 jobs, a number that Granholm has publicly admitted (Granholm:  "By next year, Michigan  will have lost 1 million jobs, we need a  change." I agree!). As for the freep, they have jumped the shark.

...the "missing" 911 tape(s) are still one big unanswered question regarding this case (that and who shot a mother numerous times with a .40 in west-side Detroit Neighborhood)

I have yet hear a satisfactory explanation regarding what happened.

There are lots of unanswered questions regarding this case and I do not think Mike Cox did a very good job investigating it.

This could come back to bite him in the a$$.

Is a former advisor to McCain, and has sites on the same server hosting this organization's site.

    A political consultant..

The group itself seems to favor "moderate" (or as I call them "compromised" Republicans)

Its a moderate (Snyder) hit piece.

The nerd King knows his toughest enemy and the progressive Republicans use stuff out of the leftist playbook to meet their goals.

Snyder is in the hands of the liberal beast! (5.00 / 1) (#9)

People keep making this stuff up out of thin air! Both the Free Press and the Detroit Police have stated that the tapes were never missing.  As far as the dispatcher goes, she never came forward and identified herself.  It's a shame that Snyder is feeding right into this liberal media ploy.  He is deceiving Michiganders and wasting more of his money just like he did with those "Nerd" ads.  If those worked, he wouldn't be doing this.

I think this just shows how low Snyder will go to win.  This really is a low blow.  And shame on the Free Press for making a huge deal out of it.  Remember, Cox is the one who threw the guy behind bars!!  I am tired of the Free Press / Rick Snyder feeding this story that has no factual basis.
